Very true. The UFC had 11,828 paid attendance for 78, a little over 14,000 in house. So a little over 2,000 comped is not bad at all.
Letr's face it, EliteXC has done an absolute piss poor job of advertising this event here in the NYC area. There are no billboards and just quick little 15 second snapshot radio commercials. I have yet to see a TV spot. Heck, there's a huge billboard in Lodi, NJ advertising UFC 85, a PPV in a week. I know a lot of people who follow MMA casually and they knew about the IFL being in town a lot more than this event. I keep telling people about it and they're puzzled that they didn't know it was taking place. Even the weigh ins. Instead of doing it at a sports bar or somewhere like that, they did it outside the venue with terrible attendance. Who wants to drive into the middle of Newark just for that? Put it in a sports bar and people will come figuring they'll get some food and a couple of drinks to start the weekend. Its a bad job locally by EliteXC.
