Default Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock on Oct 4 EliteXC/CBS

That's according to Loretta Hunt at Sherdog. She's very reliable, so assume this is true.

Ken Shamrock will be the fourth man to face Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson when the two icons clash at EliteXC’s third installment of “Saturday Night Fights” Oct. 4 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The headlining bout will anchor a live broadcast on CBS.

Sherdog.com confirmed the bout’s signing with multiple parties aware of the fight, while a press release is expected to circulate later today with the news.

The 44-year-old Shamrock (26-13-2) beat out fellow candidates Sean Gannon and Brett Rogers, who called out Slice in May, for the coveted slot.

Shamrock, a 15-year veteran of the game who made his storied Octagon debut at UFC 1 in November 1993, has dropped his last five bouts in a row since 2005, including a lackluster showing against brawler Robert Berry at Cage Rage 25 last March.

However, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” exudes substantial selling power for a match now only five and a half weeks away. A strong personality in and out of the cage, Shamrock’s 15 appearances in the UFC earned him international recognition alongside his original nemesis Royce Gracie.

Slice (3-0) earned a third-round victory against Brit James Thompson in his last foray for EliteXC in May. The bout was much criticized for its questionable officiating, placing Ferguson’s skill set in doubt after Thompson held the advantage for sizable stretches of the 11-minute contest. Ferguson holds previous wins over David "Tank" Abbott and Bo Cantrell

Default Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock

A Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock bout is set for October 4th.

Initially I thought this would be a breeze for Shamrock, but taking a second look I think it might be fairly tight. On paper and technically Shamrock is a better fighter than Slice, but Shamrock hasn't been impressive or consistant for some time now. Slice is apparently training with dedication and should be in good shape, that could be enough to pass a seemingly out of sorts, aging Shamrock......maybe.....?

(Apologies if there is already a thread on this)

Ken was either KO'd or TKO'd in every one of last 5 fights. EliteXc isn't even trying to give Kimbo legit opponents so I hope Ken actually gets this to the ground and submits Kimbo.

Total joke. In all seriousness though, if Shamrock decides to take it to the ground, he has a much better shot at winning than most will give him credit for.

oh joy. Ken is a pioneer in the sport and has drawing power but i have no interest to see him fight anymore. Especially not against Kimbo in a Main Event. Dreadful match making on the part of EliteXC. On the bright side at least Kimbo will have the cardio advantage in this one. Not excited about this at all. Maybe Ken will win and finally announce his retirement.

I personally don't think Kimbo has much talent, so the only real interest I have in this bout is that if Shamrock, a UFC has-been can beat the "up'n'coming" kimbo Slice, then hopefully alot of unnecessary hype will be put to rest.

Ken must want to die in the ring.

Ken "Gramps" Shamrock via pugilistic parkinsons

Jared Shaw of EliteXC has confirmed to 5 Oz of Pain's Sam Caplan that this fight is indeed official.

Ken has a glass jaw and, as much as I would love him to exterminate Kimbo and end EliteXC's farce, I don't think it'll happen. Too small and too old.

Wow I never expected that. Bad move by Elite XC in my opinion.
If Ken wins it would be the end of the Elite XC when you think about it.

I don't see this being any different from Ken v. Buzz Berry.

Ken is really gonna get his ass handed to him. He better take this fight to the ground if he wants to stand a chance.

LESS than ZERO interest in this fight.

I'll probably end up watching the rest of the card...but this fight is pointless.
Shamrocks reaction time is sooooo bad these days....he could get hurt real bad in this one. He could try & take it to the ground...but's he's so F'n slow that I can't see him actually doing it. "Buzz" F'n Berry KTFO'd him for God's sake. Sub-par standup skills, 7 losses in his last 8 fights (6 of which were KO/TKOs) and they put him in there with a headhunter like Slice. Pure BS...
I'd rather see Slice go up against Rogers or at least some one with SOME standup skills and without a glut of recent KO losses.
The "World's Most Dangerous Man" is about to become the "World's Most Damaged Can". LOL

There goes even more credibility for EliteXC and Kimbo, what a joke.
