I was flashed by a jab... popped right back up, but I was most def. out for a second and landed on my back! LOL! This was sparing at about 70%, not a hard shot, just caught me just right.

Before I start I would just like to remind everyone that 'fixing' has and does happen at the highest level in every sport. We need to be vigilant about it.

If he was caught legit by that jab I honestly think it was because he was moving forward at the time with his MOUTH OPEN. It only takes a few lbs of pressure on the tip of a mans jaw to black him out for a split second and bend his knees. This would have been enough, considering he was staggering forward at the time, to make him hit the deck. The rest is history.

However, the circumstances of this particular fight and outome should warrant at least some kind of investigation (considering these investigations should be going on all the time just to ensure the integrity of the sport).

Kimbo must have lost a lot of sponsor money with Shamrock pulling out. He was probably heavy favourite with the bookies. What price do you think you would have got for Seth knocking him out in the first round? Then he does it with a less than convincing punch.

So the whole thing should be cleared up. Don't make a song and dance about it, but we should accept that it does happen and be on the look out for suspicious results.

There's a difference between looking for suspicious results and just plain letting your imagination run wild. There is zero chance that Kimbo threw this fight, it makes no sense.

You have points but from the posture I seen from kimbo as he went down I believe he was ko'ed for a split second.

Watch the Petruzelli-Bob Sapp fight from K-1 in 2004. Instead of flooring Sapp with a short right, he does it with a short left. Very similar though to the Kimbo shot. Too bad an injury cost Seth that fight.

This all has me ROFL. The facts are that we don't know what the hell goes on behind the scenes. Who knows who's got what bets on which fighters or even if there are bets made by fighters on themselves. We can speculate until this thread hits double digits. WE still won't know. Now IF an investigation does get launched, and IF shady circumstances come to light, then we can say "Aha! I toldja so!", but til then... we still won't know $h!t.

All I do know is what's on the tape. Seth threw a punch, Kimbo took it bad, someone lost, someone won. BEFORE the fight Kimbo was visibly upset in a pre-fight interview. I don't know Kimbo personally. Otherwise if I did, I could maybe make at least a knowledgeable guess at what his non-verbal affect suggested. What doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out is that the man was upset, terse in his response, looked to be trying to rally himself mentally from what could only be assumed was a huge mind-fcuk and looked to be impatient with the interview. Was he thinking about how much money he stood to lose? Was he thinking about the bookies he'd have to pay? Who friggin' knows. I don't.

What I do believe is it's natural for people to want to assume the worst. Including the possibility that Kimbo threw his fight for reasons unknown. But I think, (all wild and fantastical speculation aside), all we saw was a surprise win from an unknown fighter. Is it so shocking that we tend to imagine suspicious motives to further sensationalize what can only be called a stunning upset? No. This is how human beings rationalize the unpredictable. We weigh all possibilities including the bizarre and exotic. And that's what I think we have here... people voicing their opinions of the possibilities.

Me, I don't know if there's anything shady going on. Was it a surprise knockout, hell yeah. Could it be staged. Hell yeah. Will I stop watching mma if it could've been a fix? Hell no. Occam's razor states that all things being equal (in this case the evidence and/or motivation or lack thereof for Kimbo to take a dive or not) then the simplest explanation is the best.

    Kimbo got KTFO.

What bookie is this that would be taking bets on a fight that had only been announced on an hours notice. I think we should crush all talk of Kimbo taking a dive, because even though most of us know it's ridiculous stuff like this ends up catching on and being brought up in the future.

The only shady behaviour we seen that night came from the people behind the scenes, or in the audience as it were.

Some reports are saying that Kimbo took the the punch that dropped him right in the eye. It'll be interesting to see an injury report, perhaps Kimbo got a busted eye socket. His eye was very swollen in the brief post-fight interview.

Had this happened to a more experienced fighter i'd be skeptical. But this was Kimbo, a guy who has a handful of fights against less than stellar competition. We have no idea how he takes a punch. i think its also fair to consider his mental state at the time. People say he was upset that Ken was unable to fight, he probably carried that into the ring which wouldn't help him. No excuses, Kimbo lost, Ken is probably kicking himself and Seth Petruzelli is at the top of his career. Forever to be known as the man who KO'd Kimbo.

He also made $500,000 dollars. Pretty stupid.

Edit: Were you talking about Kimbo or the guy who started the thread?

I thought onebigthrow was talking about gemaster, the thread starter.

    I could be wrong though.

Could you please rephrase that so it does not bash on Kimbo Slice?

I mean, when he was a street brawler, bash away at him all you like.

But, NOW, Kimbo IS an MMA fighter whether you like it or not.

The man is NOT stupid, and he displayed GREAT honor AND RESPECT.

I like Kimbo generally, but I won't lie. He did not show honor and respect when he refused to touch gloves at the end of the referee's pre-fight instructions. Its been debated here many times the merits of touching gloves as the fight starts but that is not my issue here. He blatantly refused to touch after the final instructions. Thats a crap move. Fourteen seconds he's on all fours and I'm yelling "It serves you right".

My bust, sorry. I totally forgot about the guy that started the thread.

Sorry about that, OBT ... I jumped the gun on that one.

I thought that "this guy" referred to Kimbo. I missed that "master" reference.

This loss has actually made me like Kimbo a bit more. Maybe it's because he will get knocked off his pedestal a bit and fight through the ranks like most fighters have to do. Who knows he may actually get half decent in a couple years.

Kimbo has had a hard up bringing & with all those knuckle fights I dont see kimbo in the mma game for long considering he is already 34 I believe & for what kimbo lacks on the ground I really don't see it getting much better but you never know.

I am not ragging on the man but I realyl think its to late in the game for the man to become good on the ground or even decent enough to get up from the ground.

Just to clear things up, I THINK KIMBO GOT CAUGHT. Just incase anyone took anything else from my last post.

Just one more thing to Wanderleisliver, there are plenty of bookies, legit and otherwise, who would take bets on a fight made 30 seconds ago nevermind a couple of hours.

I would like ot see Kimbo come over to the UK and fight Robert 'Buzz' Berry. I think they are both about each others level and they both like to bang..... and they both fight under EliteXC one way or another. Plus Berry already beat Ken and that would give an angle to make the Shamrock fight for Kimbo again.

I really am in the wrong job arent I......

Buzz has retired now mate, he posted on the CageWarriors forum saying he had to have plates put in his face/head after the Neil Grove fight.
