Default Andrei Arlovski vs Cheick Kongo

Another good matchup that will probably stay on the feet although Arlovski would do well to use his submission skills on the ground. I'd go with Kongo though. (Could this be the next opponent for Kongo?)

I think Arlovski would have an easier time taking down Kongo than he did against Big Tim. Once Kongo is on his back he's completely useless pretty much like a turtle.

I would put my money on AA. I just feel he is the better all around fighter.

True for right now, untill Kongo actually gets the BJJ and wrestling training he greatly needs, then he will be a force, personally i think Cheick will get the belt.

Arlovski would take it to the ground and submit him.

I say Arlovski since he is very quick. Yeah Kongo has some power and could catch AA but I believe he should take it.

Arlovski has the skills and the size to be a force in the heavyweight division. I am just waiting for him to start using them. Lately he seems content to counter punch and keep the fight standing for 3 rounds. He supposedly also had great ground skills but aside from subbing Tim Sylvia i have'nt seen those yet either. Cheick Kongo on the other hand is an even bigger fighter with probably better striking. He did pummel Mirko CroCop for 3 rounds. His ground work is suspect and this could be his downfall if AA decided to take the fight to the ground, which is'nt something he is known for. I see it as basically a repeat of the fight with Crocop if it stays standing. If it goes to the ground i say AA will get the sub but maybe Kongo has been working BJJ and his sprawl everyday so who knows in that case. Kongo by UD.

if stayed standing i think it would be a war. they have similar striking skills with perhaps aa being a touch faster and kongo being slightly more powerful. i dont know enough about kongo's ground game but it seems that would be where aa would have the advantage. aa would probably be able to get a GnP tko or sub on the ground, however he might fear another boring fight and being accused of LnP so he might decided to stand and end up losing.
