Default Anderson Silva v. Robbie Lawler

i was thinking about who could possibly beat Anderson Silva the other night and came up with Robbie Lawler. Not because he has better skills then Silva but because he hits like a freight train. i believe he's fought his last fights at 185 so weight would'nt be a factor. Whats everyone think?

Option #2. Rumors of Vitor Belfort cutting to 185 have floated around. With his straight up boxing skills and hand speed he too could pose a threat to Silva. Thoughts?

I'd see Silva picking him apart.

I know it was a while back, but if Nick Diaz's boxing and Pete Spratt's low kicks were able to stop Lawler, I'm pretty sure Anderson would do the same.
Lawler punches hard, but so does Anderson. He'd also have the advantage with reach, speed, skills and chin imo.

yes, those fights were awhile back and they did cross my mind. However Lawler has improved as a fighter both in skill and maturity. did'nt he recently beat one of Anderson's old team mates in Ninja Rua? too bad its not a possibilty since he fights in EliteXC.

Yeah, he beat Ninja.
But Ninja is nowhere near Silva's level imo.

Leben also hits hard (and has a better chin than Lawler), but we know how Silva handled him. Lawler might be a bit crisper than Leben but not enough.
I think he would be a "gatekeeper" in the UFC's 185 division as well.

It's a shame... I can think of 4 fights for Silva next - Hendo, Filho, Kang, Lindland - and none of them are likely to happen.

Vitor-Silva would be an interesting fight for sure.
But they'd need to earn the title shot and guys like Vitor and Lawler wouldn't make it.

I'd give Robbie a puncher's chance but that's about it. He is a world class fighter no doubt but Silva seems to be on a whole another level.

Although he trains with Matt Hughes, Robbie rarely decides to use his wrestling in his fights and I dont give him much more than a puncher's chance on the feet against Anderson.
