Default Dr. Sanjay Gupta -1 hour of Exercise=2 Additional Hours of Life

CNN Medical Correspondant is Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a Nero-Surgeon, but also really big into fitness and weight reduction for Americans.

This is a simple calculation which, when I threw the factors around to some friends of mine who are physicians as well as my brother in law who's a D.O., they all agreed.

1 hour of exercise daily = 2 additional hours of life added on to your life expectancy with all factors considered. Here's how the Gupta group broke it down.

1 hour of exercise (cardiovascular mixed in with resistance training) naturally lowers your LDL (Bad cholesterol) and increases your HDL (Good Cholesterol). They've also established that vigorous cardio-vascular exercise can reverse alot of developing arterial clogging. BUt thats not news.

It also increases your endorphine levels. Physicians have well established that raising your endorphine levels through exercise also decreases cravings for things like drugs and alcohol, fattening foods, etc, because the same high endorphine effect you get from those things artificially are naturally done through exercise.

THe Doctors also looked at habit formation. It's well established that it takes 21 days to develop a habit, and also to break one. So, a good solid exercise routine for 21 days can reap insane benefits not only for your better physical well-being and health, but also to develop the habit of exercise.

So remember, with all things considered, just about every doctor agrees, 1 hour a day of exercise adds 2 hours to your life! NOt a bad deal IMO.

And?
And we already know that MDs and fitness enthuisiasts in general agree that exercises adds years to your life.
I don't see an MD making such a statement as bold, profound, or even worth a grain of salt. I agree, but not because this guy says it's so.
Besides, this again is just a big generalization and assumption based on little more than common sense based on some science (something MDs are very brilliant at).

Besides when you do the math you will find that were not talking about 5 or 10 years, where talking about 1-2.
