Strong shoulders and lats add to punching power. Speed adds to power...hence the old physics formula "Mass x Accleration = Force." The faster you move or the more snap the harder your whack. Just look at Bruce Lee...138lbs...but he'd knock you into next week if he hit you...hence his one inch knock out punch. Form...the better your form...the more you'll use your whole body to deliver the shot. Getting your legs into will help also; especially hooks and uppercuts.

You can train the movements required for punching by using resistance bands. Unlike weight which are subject to gravity, bands are not and can directly train the punching motion. All you need is a band and an anchor point and you can gradually build up the movement. Start with a medium resistance band and work through the range of motion to build strength. After a few weeks change to a lighter band and speed up the movement to near full speed and later on go all out. When it comes time to fight, with proper technique you will have yourself some real KO power.

everything said above is good. technique and strength are both important. my advide would be get a heavy bag and keep repeating you're hardest punch, putting the whole body into each one. you should be able to fell how much power is being generated, or get someoie to hold the bag and tell you, when you have found the technique that generates the most power keep repeating it till it becomes you're natural punching technique. also if you are looking to get a one punch ko, the easiet way is with a hard hook to the chin. this will cause a rapid twisting of the spine resulting in a brain-stem knockout.
