Training for Boxing and Wrestling and Need Help
Im training to become a fighter doing intense boxing and wrestling. Im wondering what are some good ways to get agility and "in Fit" up. Like being able to stay running for a longer amount of time.
Just wondering if there are anything i can do to help agility and speed up??

Skipping whilst wearing a weight vest. Gives you a spring in your step increases your fitness makes you faster and more agile.

texmo, although that may seem like a good idea, it puts tremendous stress on your knees... everything you run and land on your foot, you arae putting 4x the pressure of your own body weight. Adding a weighted vest to that skipping routine and you are talking about a lot of stress on your knee
Try running with a parachute, running in the water, or being attached with an elastic cord to a wall... the resistance will make your legs adapt to hard workouts, thus making your faster and stronger
For hand speed, use resistance bands as well (NEVER USE WEIGHTS! YOU WILL HYPER-EXTEND YOUR ELBOW)
For Endurance, swim..

I disagree. unless you skip like a funking mong you should only be getting about 1/2 an inch off the ground. at the same time your knees should be bent the whole time. I don't put it on and double skip straight away. I do 5 minutes of light skipping before I put the round timer on and the vest (until it was stolen). Also having the weight high and on your torso prevents damage from occurring unlike ankle and wrist weight which are at the end of your limbs and add stress.
So why do so many pro fighters train with vests again?
I agree with your second paragraph totally.
I feel using light weights is a good idea. I know a lot of pro boxers that do use them. Daniel McKinnon (spelling) who I get the chance to train with once a month or so uses 800 gram weights to help speed up his punches. as you have to control your hand and stop it from over extending it teaches you to stay relaxed then tense at the end and increases your draw back speed. I would not use anything over kilogram though as then you would start to ensure problems its also been proven that when training with weights above and over the o.k. mark it trains your CNS to punch slower. Not a good thing.
If you skip every day for 30 minutes 3 min rounds last 30sec of every round fast or double skipping and a 30 break. In the break do crunches or push ups or squats. You will find within a month your stamina will increase tremendously. I went for a run in the weekend which I don't often do and ran 10k's in 38 minutes.

You obviously mean a "light" weighted vest. However i have a much better option, use a Heavy jump rope. Many manufacturers make weighted jump ropes up to several pounds which will really push your endurance. As for speed and agility? i highly suggest agility ladder drills and other drills designed to improve this area. Most are very simple and involve little or no equipment.

something like this could work for first step and multi-directional agilty and quickness. Its simple and you can substitute plastic bottles or just about anything for the cones.

I think all of those ideas are good from Tex, jp, and Crash. I personally use a weighted vest from time to time too. And, yes, if you pack it full of weight right off the bat it will strain your knees...just like any other resistance exercise it takes some time to condition your muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joint structures. Most vests are adjustable. Mine is a 20 pounder; which can be adjusted from 1 to 20 pounds. However, gradually adding more weight in a vest can be a tremendous training aid. By weighing say 230 lbs you could make yourself weigh 250 lbs and burn loads more calories plus explosiveness etc. I really like the vests.

I paid $100nzd for mine thats like $60usd. Its 11kilos or 23pounds in weights. It is comfortable to wear and isnt too heavy.

texmo, do you train in a weighted vest (aka hit bads with a weighted vest on) or do you just jump rope/skip with a weighted vest

I only really skip with it on. I have been for a run with it on before but as you were saying there is already so much pressure placed on your knee especcially when running I dont. I also find it restrics me when im hitting the bags so I dont wear it then or when im sparring.
