Just bought a kettlebell/DVD
I just bought myself a kettlebell/DVD package. I figured it was the best way to get started with Kettlebells. I'll be sure to post my thoughts on the product and my perceived results.

Do that. I've had some interest in learning about them for a while too and am interested to hear what you have to say on them. My gym has one or two of them also...so I may be able to toy around with them a little.

believe it or not i the package arrived today. The place i ordered them from just happens to be just south and i did'nt know it. Anyhow, the DVD is incredible. The trainer first takes you through the basics, he is very easy to understand and makes everything simple and clear. The second DVD is 2 workouts. i tried the first workout and since i have'nt really worked out in a while i found them very tough but not impossible. If you're thinking about Kettlebells i highly recommend the DVD, even if you buy kettlebells elsewhere.
here is the website of the trainer in the DVD's in case you want to know more. Kettlebell Training and Core Exercises from Anthony DiLuglio | Art of Strength

I'm good. The DVD is excellent, top notch instruction. I started with a 35lb kettlebell as they suggested and even though i have a history of low back problems i had no issues.

I just want to say that kettlebells are one of the best pieces of training equipment i have ever used!!! They're just plain fun to use!!! i'm moving up to the 20kg.(44lbs.) one soon. If you're not using kettlebells you're missing out. All you need is one, most men can start with a 35lb. kettlebell before moving up to the 44lb. and eventually even heavier bells. The heaviest i see in my catalog is a whopping 96.8lbs..
here is a great example of a very simple kettlebell exercise that builds explosive power.

Well, it was like $10. But i lucked out, apparently the warehouse for Perform Better is located less than 100 miles away. Great place to buy from if you live in New England.

How Have You Found Your Strength Gains? For Combat Purposes And General Strength Activities Are The Kettle Balls Making Much Of A Diffrence? I Want To Get A New Training Tool To Keep My Body Guessing But Not Sure If A Kettle Ball Would Be As Good For A Boxer As It Is For Some One Doing MMA.

I don't have that much experience with Kettlebells yet to really say how much they've really helped me. They're just so differant from Dumbells. What i have found is that they're fun to use. The majority of the exercises really work the hips, glutes and hamstrings as well as the core. They get worked as a group, as they should be. You can feel it the next day. As opposed to just having sore arms or shoulders its a total body feeling. I know that Fedor trains extensively with Kettlebells and its helped him be one of the best fighters in the world. I would definately recommend it for a boxer!!

Cheers Crashsti, As always your advice is appreciated. I will go buy one, I have to wait till next week though as someone stole my weight vest. So I went out in the weekend got some new clothes a weight vest and some Fat burners... $550 later so will wait a week before I have another splurge. They are also real expensive here in New Zealand as shipping costs an arm and a leg.

You won't be disappointed!! Make sure you get an instructional DVD to go with it. The set i picked up is excellent. Having a kettlebell without proper knowledge of how to use it is like having bullets and no gun. The exercises are all completely differant from what most of us know from bodybuilding. Form and technique are critical especially as the weight goes up.

These things are fun as hell. I went to my friends karate academy before he closed for the night so we could train for a couple hours. I was surprised to see this little dude throwing up some huge kettlebells. The next morning I could barely pick up my coffee

One great benefit of training with Kettlebells that i had'nt anticipated is that is really works your grip. The handles of kettlebells are thicker than traditional dumbbells, add in that you are often swinging the weight and it really puts on hurting on your hands. My only regret about Kettlebells is that i did'nt discover them sooner!

I've had mine for a few weeks now and i can say that i've made some pretty good progress in that short time. I am tossing around that 35lb chunk of iron like its nothing. They may be expensive but you really only need one at a time. Not really anymore expensive than dumbbells where you almost always need to get a pair. I would say its probably one of the best pieces of fitness equipment i have ever bought. I'm sure you'll feel the same way.

i agree.... i got a 16 pounder... i would have liked to get a big one but they were so expensive... plus i can just do more endurance as opposed to strength... maybe when i work up to it ill get another one... either way its amazing that you can basically work your whole body with it
