Smile Training for life

Over the last few months of my life i have experienced a real change in myself and how i view my place in the world. Before that, i constantly struggled with myself and how i perceived happiness. I was convinced that in order to train i had to have a goal, such as becoming a MMA fighter or to at least be physically impressive to others as well as myself. To me happiness was to become something, to achieve something outside of who i am. The greatest discovery i have made is that happiness is already in me. That i don't need to be a fighter or impress anyone. My future training will reflect that. From now on i train for life, to simply enjoy the act of being able to exercise. Training can still be tough and i can still work towards improving myself, but its no longer about chasing anything. Its about enjoying this life.

Crash, I have been reading all of your posts for a while and I have seen the change in you. You are coming across so very humble and mindful that I can feel your sincerity. You are on your way and now is the time to really look in to things that interest you. I've recommened a few titles for you before but I really think that these two are perfect for you right now.

" A Path With Heart " by Jack Kornfield

and

" The Way to A Meaningful Life " by The Dalia Lama

Both of these books really brought things in to perspective for me and untold others. The Dalia Lama has many books, but this one is his best and Jack Kornfield is a much beloved Western practitioner.

Great post, nice way to start my day. Thank you...

AMEN!

A lot of people start up things for all the wrong reasons. One of the best things that you can do for yourself is come to the realization that you are doing what you want to do for you alone. Not to impress other people or yourself , but just because you love doing it. If it makes you happy by training just do it because of that and no other reason. At the end of the day if your happy with yourself that's all that matters.

I have never been a fan of exercising or working out and when I did for short period of time I just wasn't happy. It felt like work to me and I found myself hating it so I stopped. Now I just find myself trying to enjoy life, and hopefully I will be training BJJ in a few months because that is what I really want to do.

Well said. I've been working on that attitude myself. Letting the ego sit at the door and lifting/competing with myself...not about being the Lead Bull in the gym anymore.
