Stupid Weak Body...
So I got punched in the back left of my neck. The punch wasnt that hard but, I have had to get x-rays and see a chyro a few times not only that but I am also on prescription pain killers. I was just getting back into training hard after my last fight now I have to take some more time off. Its such a nuisance...
Do you guys also find that your body gives out before you do?

Don't take it too hard, texmo. Just shows you have a fighter's spirit when the body quits before you're willing to. Good luck on a rapid recovery.

Cheers dude, Its just a real pain in the arse you know? I slept 21 hours out of 25 yesterday. I have taken 4 days off work so far and dont see myself going tomorrow. Lucky for me I have a date with a girl this Friday who is in her last year of studying to become a chiropractic.

I know it can be frustrating, but let your body heal. Training too early can not only aggravate an injury but lead it to becoming a chronic one. Good luck on your date. If she insists on helping you out with a neck massage, try the line, "Okay, now it's your turn. Take of your shirt."

Anytime that i have ever been hurt training was because i would'nt quit. I'd be determined to get that last rep, set or circuit in and thats when things would go wrong. I'm guessing that you got hurt during some sparring? One thing thats changing, at least in parts of he US is that hard sparring is being replaced with sport specific circuits to build the required conditioning for boxing, MMA etc.. With sport specific circuits you run a much lower risk of getting injured and missing training time. Not that sparring is useless, far from it. Sparring is still very important but for technical and tactical training. The idea that sparring is the ideal way to build cardio has become dated.

I wasn't doing it to build up my conditioning. I was doing it more for skill to become a more skillful boxer. I agree sport specific circuits run a much lower risk of injury and can be a better way to increase your fitness.

I'm having a rough go of it myself right now. Both shoulders are impinged, I have a tendon injury in my right upper arm and my neck is just now getting back into whack. I've quit lifting completely to let my body heal. The only lifting I currently do is to rehab everything else. On the flip side, my cardio's really kicked up...but I'm itching to get some weights back into my program.

I've even told my Doc what kind of injury I've had before and just asked for an anti-inflammatory.
