Default Putting your game together

So when i first started MMA I was only a striker....a brawler at that, not too techniqual....

My BJJ slowly started getting better and I primarily focused on that and kind of abanded my standup...

My wrestling has always SUCKED...Not a wrestler at all....

Now that I have been doing this for a while I can really see my progress week by week....

I have been drilling wrestling takedowns like mad the past couple weeks because thats one thing I have not been good at... Tonight we had a decent sized class (12 people) which make for some fun nights imo...Less 1 on 1 time with my trainer, but still a good night imo.... So we made a big circle around the mats and did king of the hill, takedowns.....Normally i'll get through 1, maybe 2 people if im lucky....I made it through 8 people and then got stopped by the best wrestler in the class.....

I shot in and nailed double legs, added some greco when i got in the clinch, had a nice sit out and took someones back....It was just a GREAT night for me....

For a white belt, my gaurd is excellent...Really hard to pass and my rubber gaurd is really effective....

We have a federation tournament (states) July 12, 13 up in Orlando....Man am I ready for it.....Gotta take 1st this time...wont settle for 2nd again...

Sorry for the story but I just wanted to share...my game is really coming together and I cant wait to have my debut MMA fight......

Anybody else have one of those nights where you are just on fire and really see the progress you've made?

Great to hear Rocky. Today I think our BJJ instructor said it well when we were doing some insane agility drills.

"Some in modern MMA just want to learn the technique and use it, but without really working agility and flexibility. And you notice it right off. But then they fight a strong BJJ guy or wrestler who really is agile and flexible and they're in trouble"

We didnt roll too hard today, we freakin got killed though in agility drills doing ladders, stacking drills, using cones to practice quick shoots, etc.

I'm in alot of pain right now, but like you said. You can really feel progress the more you do it.

And I just do this for fun.

Hope you succeed in your fighting career.

I am the same... No wrestling background, primarily muay thai striker, and just learning BJJ

Recently I had a great BJJ class where I got compliments afterwards speaking of my improvement. I also pulled out an omoplata somehow lol

Yeah what he said.

I love the nights where everything just clicks and you start using or doing things you have not done before. Good stuff man.
