Default Challenge: 100 Club

Challenge: 100 Club,

In the New Zealand Army you need to achieve the following to gain entry into the 100 club.

2.8km run in under 8 minutes.
55 Push ups with thumbs under shoulders in perfect form.
130 curl ups.

At the moment the only thing stopping me from getting in the the run I do it in 8:30 So I need to drop 30 seconds off my time.

How do you guys fair on this test?

No problem. My mile is just under 8 min and 55 pushups and 130 curl-ups (situps) would be no problem for me.

Yeah, but he's talking 2.8k; which is approximately 1.7 miles; which at that pace would put you at approximately14 mins. I think the push-up and curl up part would be pretty managable, but then again all of that right after running 1.7 miles would be considerably more difficult too.

So, what kind of recognition, award or promotion do you get for achieving this? Or is it kinda like a 3, 4, or 500 lb bench press club here?

There is a certain requirment fitness wise to be in the army this is like the elite fitness of the regular soldiers.

You say 55 push ups would be easy but the way they get you to do them one sec up one sec down and pause at bottom makes it a lot harder.

Since I ran XC, the run and the sit-ups would be easy... the push-ups would be a little harder, but i could do it

I am not sure what it means by perfect form push-ups.

55 is about my max these days.

Cross Country running if i am not mistaken. Runners compete on closed courses outside. Usually in forested areas with elevation changes. Requires a good set of lungs.

LOL...Yo Bro...I didn't say it would be easy...just managable. Push-ups that way do suck. My Karate instructor seemed very fond of punishing us for a hour then having us do push-ups up/down on his cadence; which was usually several seconds...and he'd walk across us as we were told to hold a crunch or leg lift...and Dude's a HW...or leaned onto you with a Kendo stick...real fun stuff. Push-ups like that would be even harder after running a pace like that too. Hats off to you Bro...that's worth braggin' about.
