After I posted I saw the "16" part and I assumed it would be a driving problem.
There really is no substitute for good training. I went the video approach myself and then when I started BJJ under an instructor found there are way too many factors in hand/arm/leg placement that a video doesn't show. A video can't watch you and correct you when you're alittle off either. In BJJ and submissions, angling an arm or leg alittle too much or too little can mean not having the leverage needed to cinch the submission. However a good BJJ 101 video can give you a good intro on what to expect and familiarize you with some terms which will help you catch on quicker. I recommend BJJ 101 with Roy Harris.
It'll be worth the wait! Trust me. Maybe you can get a ride to visit the school and find out if anyone there lives near you and you can car pool.
