For MMA I like using a low butterfly roundhouse to the knees to distract my oppoent from my hand. Do that a few times and wait for them to shoot. Then when they shoot I sprawl and do wither a skip front kick to the face or a knee. I also like doing a sacrafice guillotine choke in the standing guard from the clinch.

Favorite technique
I like Judo tosses they don't use them to much in MMA though but for though striking would fake a shooting in for the legs and as you do throw a haymaker to the opponents jaw it hits most of the time and the opponent can't do much because they will try to catch you and sprawl and take the full force of the blow. I've seen dan henderson knock some guys out with it in pride. Favorite grappling technique not sure really maybe rear naked choke just very easy to get to me.

i am a big fan of basic boxing, i think its very important to have a good understanding of both offense and defense. its techniques are simple and very effective. i hate seeing grapplers that have absolutely no striking skills.

I also think at least a basic understanding of boxing strikes is necessary. My main ma is Tae Kwan Do so I'm currently looking to take some boxing lessons to supplement the lack of emphasis on hand strikes in the style.
I'm a big fan of the armbar. You can get to it from so many positions.
I also like spinning out of a "missed" low kick to draw your opponent in and then land a spinning back fist as they shoot it. Like Bas Rutten when he fought Frank Shamrock for King of Pancrease when he won. That's the hit that opened the cut that eventually took frank out. You can hear the crack when it hits. ouch
i think Carter KO'd someone with a spinning backfist in a UFC match once as well.

I like to use low kicks, mainly sweeps to the front leg. I hook their heel with my foot and turn them about 90 Degrees. Not only does it surprise a lot of people, but when you're turned 90 Degrees the wrong way...you're wide open for a barrage of strikes; which can even be followed up with a take down as you close the gap.
