    Default MMA achievments..

    Figured i'd start up a discussion ...

So I have been an athlete pretty much my whole life... Played hockey from the age of 5 or 6 till I was 15... Took 2 yrs off of doing anything .. Got heavy and out of shape and decided I would get into something. .. Well there happened to be an MMA gym 3 miles away from me that I stumbled upon and the rest is history! Started with BJJ in Nov. of 07 at 17 and slowly transitioned to kickboxing and wrestling and have now been training almost 2 yrs...

I have had A LOT of time off in the 2 yrs.... Needed cauliflower surgery (it got that bad) so that was a good month, month and a half off. .. Our gym had a bad outbreak of ringworm which sidelined me to 2 months (had it in my head) .. Had 2 cracked ribs from a knee .. another 2 months ... And then f*ck*d my ankle up bad which took another 2 months..

I took 2nd place in my first NAGA tourny in March of 08.. Teens 180 - 200 ... Got sandbagged in my next one in adults in summer of 08 so didnt place at all but won my first fight.. that was adults 160 - 169 ... Next one I was adults 150 - 159 .. Again, didnt place wound up fighting a pro fighter with 6 pro fights at the time and lost by 2 points ....

Finally the last NAGA I was in I did it big! Did no gi adults 140-149.. First fight I friggin lost! I threw up every sub you can name off my back ... Didnt finish anny but lost 2 - 0 because he "took me down" (I jumped gaurd but he got the points) and I could not sweep him for ****... Luckily it was a small division so I got a chance to go for 3rd.. I wound up taking the kid down . Scramble went on.. I took his back and choked him up standing .. Felt so good lol...

Now I wasnt going to fight gi because I was pretty upset at myself but my family and friends that were there pushed me and thankgod they did... My first fight I was down 9-0! I dont train gi but once a month.. He had my back and was going for a gi choke.. Had it in tight and just as I was going out I remembered! 2 hands on my gi and pull down! Well I did it.. It worked.. I rolled out, created a scramble and pulled an armbar out my ass! lol 2nd fight I pulled guard and wound up winnning by armbar 2 mins in or so... Championship fight.... 18 seconds ... Flying armbar for the win! Was the greatest feeling in the world! Worked so hard for something and finally did what I have dreamt about since I first started training.. 1 place NAGA champ!

The following week I recieved my blue belt... With the amount of time I've had off, getting my blue belt in a little over a year has really pushed me so much...

I was aligned 2 pro fights so far and a few weeks before each one, the opponent has backed out, and 1 the promoter went under... Just waiting for a contract to come in and I am off to my pro debut hoping to make it big!

How about everyone else? Acheivements, stories, how you got started? etc... Lets get a discussion... Interested in hearing from everyone!

Freakin insane pace youre on and awesome work.

Outside a Jr. Olympic TKD gold medal in the USTU Jr. Olympics and two Bronze medals and a bunch of local titles? Not much else for me. I competed when I got my black belt in TKD in 1989 and compted until 1993. My last fight in TKD was in the Jr. Olympic Nationals, I lost to Ernie Reyes Jr. by Knockout (he threw a jump spinning back kick to my nose and it was lights out time for ole Krav).

I got my Black belt in Renbukai Karate in 2007 and currently have a brown belt in Krav Maga under Krav Master Darren Levine out of L.A./Vegas

I currently train @ SF Fairtex amateur Kickboxing and Krav Maga to civilians. Blue Belt under JJ Machado and Rigan Machado out of Milpitas CA very close to Caesar Gracies in Concord.

I've been fortunate the last 10 years to be right in the middle of the MMA explosion as far as the bay area CA with so many MMA gyms within 100 mile radius of each other in just about every aspect of MMA (Boxing gyms, kickboxing gyms, JJ clubs, Judo Clubs, etc.), man out here? You can take your pick and many of us "Gym Hop". Like I go to Fairtex once a week for my kickboxing, another school for BJJ and Krav Maga 3 X a week.

I might be fighting in an old school kickboxing match in Feb/March. There's an old-timers circuit out here that will be rotating through the area and I'd like to have @ least one confirmed professional match win or lose on my record since all of my accomplishments were done on an amateur AAU level with TKD only.

keep posting your progress Rocky. I liked that one video you had of your gym and it's awesome seeing a FF member really in the thick of MMA/BJJ 2009/2010.

Thats pretty cool stuff Rocky, good luck when someone grows a pair and fights you.

I've always wanted to do some of the JJ nonsense but I don't have the money to right now, definitely something I'm going to do eventually though.

Wow, next to you and Krav, my list is pretty insignificant and short...lol. I have only ever fought in one Karate tournament, but I took home first place. Tourney's aren't really my thing...I guess. I got into Karate to be able to protect myself mainly...the rest of it is all secondary to me. Keep up the good work Dude!
