well im struggling with the last foot aswell but my sister helped me with it, you have to lye on your back and get someone to push your legs back keep doing that slowly over and over again each time stretching further and do that some time, also just keep practicing, whioch way do you do the splits?? one leg pointing north and the other south or both pointing west? or basically the full leg span splits or the other one lol hehe???.

I do Tae Kwan Do and we focus alot on stretches for high kicks. I seem to have hit a wall in my stretching though. I should be doing it every night but like you, don't like it very much

I spend most of my stretching focusing on joint flexibility and not so much on muscle flexibility. You'd be amazed how after just a little dedication to flexing those joints how much more you can take when it comes to wristlocks and the like.

I only stretch muscle groups about once a week but I can still drop splits cold no problem. Lucky me.

yea actually escpecially if you wanna stretch for high kicks, say about 70 metres, down that line you should jkump with one leg and as your jumping bring the other leg up as high as you can and as close to your chest another one that i did when i did athletics, you know the triple jumpers when they hop skip and jump well do the skip bit but as your doing the skip bit with one leg the other one you should power it back like a horse lol hope i helped!

Thumbs up Tip for stretching

Its funny i read this post tonight as i have been to Kung Fu Training tonight and we have gone over some training.

As many people, I have hit abrick wall in my stretching and have been to my master for some tips which i can share with you now.
(Apologies if you already do these but just thought i would jot down in case)

1. In order to get good flexibility in the legs your ham strings need to be well stretched out, This is best done by when stretching make sure you start by trying to get your belly button to your toes, Sounds strange but trust me, Then you will feel a massive stretch, Now push that feeling to your chest, The trick is to keep posture. Think about it, Anyone can use there hands to grab their feet but can they touch their toes with their chin ?? Whern you can do this then you know you are flexible. It is possible, as i see it every night when i train.

2. The other thing when doing leg stretches as well is that people think its great to get your leg above your own head and hit teh wall behind, True flexibility is when you can stand up straight and your toes touch your forehead, Again this is down to posture. It sounds strange but it is the key to aim for these targets.

3. Hips is the key thingwhen going for splits, especially side splits. (Now im going to try and explain the stretch here so bare with me )

- Sit down with your back straight and in the kneeling position
- Now spread your knees apart as far as possible
- Keeping your knees apart move forward so you appear to be in the pressup position, You should be resting on your knees ??
- Now push your hips to teh floor whilst keeping your head up.
- ONec held for 1 minute now move back as though you are moveing back to sit down and you will feel the opposite side of the stretch

This is the same stretch as used by Russian Gymnasts and done at least three times a week will have you dropping into side splits no problem.

(Dont forget to do your normal stretches as well, This will help you get past taht last couple of centimetres.)

If anyone is confused and is interested then let me know by mail eltsy2003@hotmail.com
and ill send you a picture of me in the position ha ha ha

As mentioned earlier you may already know this but i though i woudl share some knowledge passed to me

happy Stretching

I'm just woundering if this is normal or not, but I started streaching a while back then stopped and started again, recently to enhance my high kicks. and my legs and the areas where I was steaching grew rapidly. And im just woundering if this was normal.

does any one hear use pnf(proprioceptive muscular facilitation) stretching, this is really good for increasing flexibility. it basically involves a partner stretching a muscle to pretty near its limit and holding it for 10 seconds. you then contract the muscle to push against your partnea hand and he applies just enough force to keep it static. you then relax and the partner stretches the muscle again hopefully getting it slightly further.

for a better explanation, google it. this is very effective

The last massage I went for, the RMT was using that technique to loosen up my neck. Seemed effective.
