Favorite Takedowns?
What are all of you guys favorite takedowns? I do wrestling so these are things i do or know from doing some greco freestyle and school stuff.
i said the japanese whizzer one cause that is good from the over under and is easy but nice.
I like the double to a slam. and the low single is nice and duck unders and when you get the bear hug that is cool.
p.s. nobody can see my low single

In wrestling I don't think I ever shot a double leg. I always used a single with a leg trip, sometimes I would try an ankle pick so I wasn't too predictable.

Yeah I used low single. I don't know why I didn't like double legs, it probably had to do with the fact I could never get them as much as singles in practice so I was afraid to try them. Singles served me pretty well so I stuck with it. If I couldn't get the single I would depend on the firemans carry to bail me out.

low single is good with feints and head snaps or rakes and then shoot. but for the takedowns where you are close in you need better set ups which i am still learning since it is my second year. firemans carry is like a high crotch and they are both good. if you don't get deep enough in on the double they sprawl and your face goes in the mat.
how long have you been wrestling what are your stats?

Oh man. It's been so long since I have wrestled. I don't even remember my stats. I wasn't great but I wrestled from when I was 7 until my junior year. But yeah I just relied on the firemans if I couldn't get the single. It seems like I always was in the toughest weight class. I wrestled so many guys who went on to be state champ in almost every tournament. Needless to say I got whipped..alot

Well personally I reallly like my Aikido throws. None of them are on that poll so I would half to go with the Hughes bear hug slam.

Yes. There awesome. Onlly problem is that 90% of the throws involve grabbing the wrist or thumb. and I don't think wrist locks are aloud in the UFC.
And Aikido by itself doesn't work in MMA. You need to be well rounded just like all the top fighters are. Here's a demo. Heres a demo. I found on the net.
And I know Aikido looks scripted but its not. The whole purpose in Aikido is to use your oponents own body, strength, speed and momentom against themselves...so in other words the harder you attack the harder you get thrown around. But like I said Aikido by itself DOESN'T WORK.
http://www.aikidojournal.com/media.p...a=video&page=2 BTW don't watch the video on the top its sword fighting stuff.

aikido apparently takes a while to learn which isn't good. it looks like it is fake with ppl flying and crap and there is virtually no ground game. wrist locks are good i looked up how to do one and do it to ppl at school. lol

Aikido is 100% self defense. Wich is like I said doesn't work on it's own. It's excellent at countering takedowns, submissions and weapon disarming but thats about it. See I told your Aikido looks fake but it's not. I take Aikido and I'm able to make people go flying around like that.

Missouri. Just stick with it dude. I got burnt out in HS and I also had a kid so they kind of took up most of my time outside of school and work. Good luck.

my favorite is nto on the list, but when i wrestled i used to love the firemens carry, that was my one bread and butter take down
i had no confidence in my pure single and double leg shots
also used alot in my repertoire were outside ankle picks and the ankle picks where u pull the opponents head downward, while shooting in for the ankle
i wsa near perfect with those three takedowns
i used the duck under only when someone was very aggresive and reckless, and from that id just grab an ankle as i passed

Doubleleg simply because it puts them off balance and puts you in a position of advantage when all is said and done
