Default strongman diet

in Flex magazine they covered a strongman event and interviewes some of the competitiors. one of which was Marius Pudinowski(i am sure i spelled that wrong.) anyway, they asked him his diet. for breakfast everyday he eats THREE POUNDS of bacon and 10 eggs. at dinner he'll eat more bacon and sauerkraut. during the day he'll eat a few 3 musketeers bars and other chocolate. he also mentioned taking supplements, creatine etc...my thoughts were, can you imagine this guys cholesterol levels? he must be eating 35lbs of bacon a week. the irony of this post is that i recently gave bodybuilding the big thumbs down for MMA training but am admitting to reading the most well known bodybuilding magazine going. oh well.

I think there's a big difference between body building and power lifting. I'd say that people who participate in Tough Man are power lifters. They're not trying to carve their body, just trying to get stronger. And can't hurt in fighting, as long as you have the skill/cardio to back it up. I do know what you mean, though. You don't need to be Arnold to be a good fighter.

Keep in mind, all these pro-body builders do is eat, eat, eat, train, train, train. They're machines. They're also trying to gain muscle mass and weight. Their workouts place huge caloric demands on their bodies and if they don't consume enough, they don't gain. I'm not sure if I completely buy it yet or not, but I recently read an article that stated colesterol levels may not be directly affected by diet as we once thought.

the guy in question is not a bodybuilder, he is a professional strongman. the guys who flip tires and cars, throw cows etc.. caloric requirements aside, when a man eats nothing but bacon, eggs, porkchops, potatoes, sauerkraut and Snickers bars something eventually has to give and i would guess it will be his heart. bodybuilders on the other hand do tend to eat leaner sources of protein along with alot of vegetables and fruit. your comment on cholesterol is valid, i too have read in many places that bad levels of cholesterol are more related to genetics than to food sources. just the same though, would it hurt for this guy to eat somefruit once in awhile?
