Need some advice on running...
Hey guys, I need some input in regards to running. I'd like to do a 5k event sometime in the near future. I currently jog, and a slow jog at that, 1.5 to 2 miles 3 or 4 times a week. I then usually follow it up with 2 to 5 miles of brisk walking, depending on what day of the week it is. Any suggestions on how to train for a running event, like a 5k? Thanks in advance guys.

my friend who is a marathoner always says to start out slowly increasing your distance at a slow pace.... say go up to 2.5 next but slower... do that a few times then work on your speed.. im not a huge distance runner myself but thats just what i hear works best

In the past month or so I've found coolrunning.com to be a very valuable source of information on everything to do with running. Smashing, I realize you're well beyond the "couch" stage of this, but I'll link you to their "Couch to 5k" program, and you can adjust it as you see fit. In general, have a look around their site for anything else you need to know.

By the way, if you're doing any of your running on a treadmill, here's a little video demonstration of some bad treadmill form. Try and be more careful than this lady.
