Default Steriods and fighting

So i was arguing with my cousin yesterday about how a few sum of guys do roid up before fights but that its not everyone. I know they get tested before fights but have methods of not getting caught. Do you Think Big time names are taking Steriods before fights? I mean tim was caught once and i think once they are caught they should be gone for good.

Kimo just got caught for steroids. Fighters can get away with it, just as long as they know what they're doing.

Rich and Franklin? No. But, I'm sure there are some fighters that do or have.

they usually have to take a drug test after a fight. Kimo had to take a pre fight test because he failed the one he took after he fought Ken Shamrock.

other fighters have tested positive for steriods in the past (Tim Sylvia, Josh Barnett) so it does happen. Pride does not test for steroids. I guess its a cultural thing.

There are so many misconceptions about steroids. You don't just take them before you fight so it gives you like super human strength or something. Any one who is smart enough to get away with it knows how to beat a urine test. I don't think that fighters that get caught should be gone for good. If they started blood testing fighters, I think a lot of people who think that no one in the USA uses steroids because the UFC "tests" their fighters and that only fighters in Japan do, would be surprised at the results.

this goes back to the whole Timmy wanted a 6 pack set of abs to look good on UFC posters garbage. Tim paid the price and was suspended and its an incident that will be brought up everytime his name is mentioned. Tim apologized to everyone, including Dana White and the UFC, he apologized to the freaking athletic commision. he even went to local Universities to discuss steroids and why they are a dumb idea, he did this on his own and not as part of his punishment for using. i did'nt like Tim much either when i first watched him fight, however after reading many articles about him he is'nt some punk ass bully. he was actually picked on alot as a child and its affected his self-esteem into adulthood, which is why he wanted the stupid 6pack abs so he would look good on UFC promo posters. Tim liked to point out that the UFC would often put him in the background with a another fighter blocking out his not so ripped midsection. even in fighting looking like a pretty boy is important.

Ok, so the steroid topics are many, but what about other illegal drugs? How many are on pain killers, diuretics, blood boosters? Just like any sport or competition, they will seek a way to have an advantage over the other side.

In case anyone's interested, here's Kimo's explanation for failing the test. Sounds more like an excuse to me:

when u see that sylvia mcgee fight, tim is in the best shape of his career, although it was steroid inhanced, some people just dont cut like other people, fighters dont take them like the week before its a build up prob from months previously, prob off them in the coming weeks to a fight taking flushing drugs.

Most painkillers aren't illegal if a doctor prescribed them for you nor are steroids for that matter. The problem is the ppl who want to use them to get ahead who have no real medical need for them.

Things like cortizone shots are extremely common for athletes here in the U.S. It usually holds off surgery till the end of the season.

Both pain killers and steroids are prescription meds (regulated) in the U.S. Besides, the reason they are a problem is that more than the normal amount is taken to mask the pain during the fight meaning you must get more than one script or fill the same one many times. It's a huge problem with athletes. Ever seen "The Smashing Machine"? I never said they were performance enhancing, just illegal too.

I beieve that about 20% of the fighters in MMA use steroids. I know about 6 fighters around here. There are aot of fighters, mosty in Pride, that I believe are guilty to using steroids. I don't want to name any fighters that haven't tested positive, but here are some names that have. Bob Sapp, Kimo, and Tim Sylvia.

Steroids are not illegal in Japan or banned by PRIDE FC.
