Help on diet!
What’s up everyone on fight forum? Ok. Fist things first I’ve been having trouble in choosing a healthy diet. I’ve been reading different pieces and parts of people’s diets on the forum and applying them to mine. The only thing is, Is that’s all I’ve been reading; pieces and parts I’ve yet to read a straight forward diet. I’ve been getting confused because there are a lot of people who contradict each other and kind of get me thinking. Sometimes I feel that im doing the right thing but then I second guess myself and feel like I’m not getting enough of something. Nutrients, fibers, vitamins, minerals, etc. Also my breakfast is horrible. I have no clue what to eat. I usually just eat a bowl of cheerios and some fruit. Can someone please lead me in the right direction?
Oh and something I want to add, I do not drink carbonated drinks, just water and natural juices. I don’t eat sweets instead of candy and that sort of thing I eat fruit. Thanks for the help everyone.
Edit: One more thing I forgot to mention. Towards around 5 or 6 in the evening I feel really out of it. In other words my body feels week and I get really sleepy. I have no clue why I feeling like this. It’s horrible I've never felt like this before in my life.

your breakfast is fine, it may just be too small. how many meals do you eat in a day? truly active people need to eat 5 or 6 times a day and up to 800 calories per meal depending on thier personal requirements. i personally eat a bowl of oatmeal with raisins and honey, along with a 2 bananas and a very huge glass of water. i would guess that you just need to eat more of what you're eating already.

I personally have two breakfasts. I stick with #1 until I'm desperate for a change, and then I go to #2.
#1: Unsweetened oatmeal with almonds, dried apricots, and bananas. In the summer I add fresh strawberries, but at this time of year they're getting expensive. Last week I added dried papaya, and that was good too.
#2: Egg whites (I buy the pasteurized kind in the carton), mixed up with a big handful of baby spinach. I microwave it for a couple of minutes and eat it in a sandwich with hot sauce on whole grain toast. No butter, but a little skim milk cheese.
I have my first dose of protein powder with either breakfast, but I mix the first one with orange juice (Tropicana because it's just oranges -- no added sugar), and a banana.

wow!, That sounds great sitnspin. Maybe im not getting enough and thats making the rest of the day for me feel like crap. Im a big fan of orange juice so that sounds great. I've never had skim milk cheese, is it any good? Yea I think i'm going to buy oatmeal today along with some other nisesities. Wait you mix your protien with the orange juice and banana, may I ask what protein you use. I am completely lost with the whole supplument/protein thing. I just rely on getting all that stuff from what I eat. But i know for a fact all that stuff helps. Any Ideas on an energy booster, i think thats what I really nead. well thanks alot everyone on all the help.

i prefer oatmeal as my first meal simply because it gives me the sustained energy i need. the honey and raisins give me the quick boost to get me going until the carbs from the oatmeal make it into my system. do i change it up? of course. like Sitnspin does, i add differant fruits and nuts. sometimes i use milk instead of water. some days i don't eat bananas but i will instead fill the oatmeal with apple chunks.
as for a protein drink. you can either go with a whey only drink or a protein blend. in your case though i would recommend a drink like EAS Myoplex. its a meal replacement shake that can be used as a 4th meal. it would be an easy way for you to get some extra calories without having to make a meal. i do however use a Whey protein drink as well. everyone has differant opinions on what is best. i recommend buying the smallest size of differant brands until you find a brand and flavor that you like.

As for an energy booster, if you eat well during the day you should'nt need one. most energy boosters are filled with sugar and caffiene. they give you a quick hit but it goes away as fast as it comes. i may sometimes have a cup of coffee or a Redbull though if i am feeling extra slow on any given day. its really easy to overuse energy drinks though, so i don't really recommend them.
here is a link to a "natural" energy booster. i use it and it really does work. its filled with B vitamins and alot of other nutrients the body needs. it gets the job done without caffiene or sugar.

Optimum Nutrition's gold standard whey protein. I get it at GNC.

don't worry
Just like you would go to a dojo to train
go see a personal trainer and have them give you a diet plan and then follow it take a fitness test and everything and if your feeling tired you may have low blood sugar so eat some fruit... or anything high in sugar ... also take a daily vitamin very important and in expensive

too many carbs in whey protein? the whey i use has only about 3g of carbs per serving. a whey isolate is more protien per serving and less carbs but costs more. if you train hard and are not cutting weight there is no reason to worry about 3 or 4g of carbs in your whey protein shake.

If you're training hard, the only concern you should have about carbs is that you're getting ENOUGH.
