Raw Eggs
Hi guys,
I often see people eat raw eggs in the movies. I know eggs contain proteins, but is there an actual benefit from drinking raw eggs? How many do you need and when is the best time to take them?
Also do you just drink yokes or the whole egg?

Maybe I'm not thinking clearly but can't raw eggs give you salmonella poisoning?
Edit: I found this site which may help you and apparently the risk for salmonella poisoning isn't that high. Raw eggs for health

Eggs contain a lot of cholesterol, but it's mainly in the yolk. While I wouldn't recommend drinking a bunch of raw whole eggs each day, doing it with just the whites isn't a bad idea. They're a good source of animal protein, iron, B12, etc, and drinking them in their liquid form will improve absorbtion. Unfortunately, I find it disgusting and there's no way I could do it, so I microwave them.

Yea I would cook them as well because the whites on their own are disgusting and look like mucus

every-once-in-a-while I'll put a few raw egg whites in my protein shake. They seem to give me horrible smelling gas the next day.

Cook your eggs. salmonella is nothing to mess with. while its true that it usually only affects the very young, elderly or ill you can still get it. it should also be noted that will all the antibiotics used in the USA the strains of salmonella are much stronger than they used to be. if you have to eat raw eggs follow the advice in the link and only buy eggs from healthy, grain fed, organic, free range hens. i think the cost of that alone will keep people from eating raw eggs.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. Cook the damn eggs, They will lose a bit of the goodness, but not enough to risk salmonella for. Reading a book by Nutritionist Kerry Kayes at the mo who maintains raw eggs are a big no no!

If the documentary had only 2 plants I would hardly call the claims valid. If the researcher had…let’s say 50 of each and the regular water had a better plant growth average, then the hypothesis can be supported, but not just 2 plants...give me a break. Also, did the experiment let the microwave water cool off or did they just give boiling water to the plant?

Yeah, I've got a cure for you. Get your lazy ass back to the gym and do a hundred burpees!! Did you know that Randy Couture had food poisoning when he beat Sylvia? And Chuck Liddell has had food poisoning since 2004. And do you hear them complaining?!?

Cook the eggs. Raw they can get you sick AND they don't digest as well, losing nutritional value.
If you're lazy, do what I do, and hardboil them.

If you are after the protein in eggs, you shouldn't overcook them because then the proteins will be denatured.

Mepersoner is back again with info that's contrary to the rest of the world. I'm not going to argue about raw eggs getting you sick, because they very well might. But in fact, we absorb more of the egg when it's raw than when it's cooked, thus benefiting from more of the protein.
