User Titles and Ranks suggestions needed.
Ok we are looking for 2 things :
1 - A creative user title system consisting of a list of around 10 different titles for user that have x amount of posts.
The current Title system consists of only :
Posts....Title
0 - Junior Member
30 - Member
100 - Senior Member
Some other forums use a black belt, green belt, etc system for user ranks. Does anyone have any orginal ideas? (list titles from 1 - 10) All participation is greatly appreciated.
2 We also have the ability to add custom images below user names for different ranks. We could also use this as some type of rewards system to display a championship banner if you win a FightForum contest. Suggestions welcomed.

The easiest title system to think of would be a weight system but another forum already uses that so I don't think we should copy them. I'll give it some thought and see if I can think of anything else.

Off the top of my head you could use something like a round system.
For new people they can be a 10th round decision fighter and for people with lots of posts could be first round ko winners or something like that. It would take some tweaking but might work. Am I making my point or does this make no sense at all? Sometimes I have a hard time putting my thoughts in writing.

Thanx, I had a helluva time finding a decent one that was under 80 x 80 pixels but I'm happy with this one.

You could also have the number of posts set to what 'promotion' the user is fighting under, but you might run into problems by using real world names, or people being pissed off that pride and ufc are in the wrong order or that they are stuck at gladiator challenge or that gladiator challenge deserves a higher spot than tko.. etc etc

yeah i thought of that too, but we already have a ton of people who disagree about UFC and Pride. I can't even imagine arguing who is higher KOTC or ROTR and stuff like that.

It doesn't neccessarily have to be based on a sport...We could just come up with generic titles for x amount of posts.
We could also just go with a numeric system such as Rank 1 - 10
Keep the ideas coming

What about fighting style based system ?
Start off at a single style that's not very high on damage then add more styles too it until around 1,000 posts or more you would be an MMA Warrior.
1-50 Wrestler
50-100 Boxer
100-250 Kick Boxer
250-500 Submission Expert
500-1000 MMA Warrior
I only rank them like that in the order I see damage being caused by them styles
With Wrestling you are only slamming and taking down, Boxing a little more damage with punching and cutting, Kick Boxing a bit more, Submission being higher with Breaks and Chokes.
You could add more styles like maybe Sumo or Bare Knuckle Fighter something like that if you needed more options for advancement.

1. Wanna Be
2. Rookie
3. Professional
4. Up and Coming
5. Contender
6. Top Ranked
7. Champion
8. Superstar
9. Hall of Famer
10. All Time Legend
Obviously, the point counts associated are up to you, the admins. But I would suggest keeping the highest levels (HOF, Legend) in the 10,000+ post range.

i like what Gygax has come up with. it suits the MMA flavor of this forum. i would've hated the belt system and using the differant promotions is asking for trouble.

Ok I have updated the user title system to the following Titles and Post requirements. Let me know if the list looks OK. It's not too late to add more Titles or change post values. Let me know if anything seems out of order or if you have a title you would like added!

i would put more distance between steps. its really not that hard to amass 2000 posts. in a year i think we will have alot of all time legends floating around.

Maybe Super-Star at 1000, Hall of fame at 2500 and all time legend at 5000.

yeah, that sounds better, 2000 posts is really nothing. at another forum i go to there are guys with over 2500 posts and they have only been there a year or less. maybe Off-topic posts should'nt count towards your status? OT can be post-whore paradise.

any way to somehow factor in points into the rankings? i mean if someone has a great sense of picking winners with the betting system or posts threads that are peticularly popular should'nt that be factored in as well?
