Question about FF History???
What is the History of Fight Forum? Who and when was it created? Does FF plan to expand and try and rival (by rival I mean be a better alternative) to "That Other Site"?????
I really like FF and notice, there are what? 2900 members? Why not 15,000? Or 40,000??
I think there's even better knowledge here than people think. I think there's mosty reasoned debate and the VBookie thing keeps gambling fun, safe, and gives everyone a little more umph to watch a good game or event.
I stumbled totally on to this site by mistake and love history, and your history says a lot of how your future is going to end up. Cause IMO, good work so far!
Thanks!

The original Fightforum, according to my knowledge, was founded by Gregory Williamson. Our dear Admin Guile bought the site off him and started this forum in April/May of 2005.
Actually we have more members than you might think, but the 0 post accounts were deleted some weeks ago. Quality to us is more important than quantity.

I hope it stays that way forever. I guarantee this site won't be improved by having every yokel and his kid brother signing up and posting regularly. As Ian MacKaye from the band Fugazi said, "They sell a million Twinkies every day. Doesn't mean they're any good."

I just looked at the members list and it shows like 1400 members with 0 posts. All that hard work out the window, lol. Too many people afraid to put their thoughts out there.

I consider myself really lucky i stumbled here. I googled MMA forum and this was the first place on the list. To think i might have ended up at Sherdog. I definitely wouldn't have gotten this involved in MMA and the MMA community. I by no means consider myself an expert. But considering eight months ago when i signed up i knew nothing more than Dana White had taught me sinse TUF1, i know a hell of a lot and can talk MMA with anyone. And i owe most of that to FightForum and it's members. Admins especially.

Pretty much the same thing for me as well. I have gained so much knowledge from this forum...I just hope it doesnt get to the point where there are so many people that the intelligent discussion goes away(ex: Sherdog).

Glad you guys enjoy the site...I have time to give the short version.
FightForum - April 22, 2005 - Here is the site when it was a boxing only forum under different ownership. I had been looking to start up an MMA / Boxing forum ealier, but couldn't find the right domain. FightForum.com was actually the first place I looked, but I was disappointed to see it was already in use. Later, when I saw this domain for sale, I jumped on the opportunity.
I knew that if we could get a community going with good people who knew the sports, and enjoyed to talk about them, we would continue to grow. I wanted a place where somebody like myself, a noob at the time, could go and ask question and learn about MMA and Boxing without getting bashed or harrassed by morons.
Less than a month later, we had a entirely new site up and 30 members :
FightForum May 14, 2005
Last Exit, Aika, and Bull have all been around since the early going and helped make this site what it is. AngryJonny later became our leading poster and earned his spot in the FF Hall of Fame. There are way too many names and cool people that have contributed along the way, but it is all appreciated
We are still looking at where to go from here. The FightForum.com Related from is alway open for suggestions

well i stumbled on this site from a google search "franklin silva"
the first place that came up was sherdog, so i went there and tried to join and it said "joining has been disabled by admin" so i was like wtf. went back to google and saw the fight forum.
it's a great site with great members. i'm glad there is not 40k members, it's much better when you check new posts and there is not 10 pages of crap to sift thru.
oh and i like fugazi, but twinkies are great.

Cool.
Basically to sum Sherdog up???
Whether you pay or don't pay to be on their site... THE MINUTE you go Anti-Pride in a thread???
You're dead!
Oh, and the minute you go Pro American Patriotism too on their Poli/Sci site.
And their OT is full of pedophiles/rapists.

Anymore its just the opposite, its turning anti PRIDE because of fairweather fans who flip flop like a political speechwriter.

I love forums. I'm on all kinds of forums. Under the name -The Hallway- I'm probably signed up to over one hundred forums across the internet. I know everything about forums, and I know that this forum is the MMA forum. If you're looking for an MMA forum, and you're an intelligent fan with intellectual content to offer to an online community, then this is the forum you're looking for.

Since the UFC and MMA in general is booming, there will be more fans stumbling on this site...I hope it doesn't get too big because it would simply be annoying and not enjoyable to be here...there should probably be a cap of the number of members, like 5,000 or whatever...if already registered members haven't posted within a certain amount of time...like 3 months or whatever, then their account is deleted so new members can join. Something like this should be addressed when it will come to the point where this site will lose its community feel.

When they don't post, why ban them so others get their spot?
We love welcoming new members and love it when they bring some fresh air in - let's not try to turn FF into a VIP club.

All the numbers were arbitrary...I'm just saying I don't think this site will work with 10,000+ (arbitrary #) members...we all know that MMA and in particular, the UFC is booming. More and more people will find their way to this site and overcrowded forums are not fun for anyone…sure its nice to see new members, but when will the number of members make a negative difference in the enjoyment of this site?
