Default Sim Game Proposal

To Guile and Fight Forum Moderators:

I, IheartLnp, have created a simulated MMA game exclusively for the members of FightForum.com. It is a game where members can create their own fighters and match them against the fighters of other members. The idea for the game came about in early January 2007, and the first tournament was held on January 13, 2007. Since then, we have had weekly tournaments with surprising membership to the game. I feel that the game will be bring the Fight Forum community together, bring more fun to the forum, and possibly more Fight Forum membership. We are currently doing well with our game, but we think we can improve things greatly with your help. We have decided to prepare “business plan,” if you will, to prove that we are serious in our attempts to bring what we feel is another plus to joining Fight Forum.


Section I- Explanation of the “Fight Forum SIM MMA Game”

Section II- Our Proposal

Section I

Fighter Creation
The game starts with the creation of a fighter. The player decides the name, weight, and height of their fighter with the following weight classes in mind:


Lightweight - over 145 lbs. to 155 lbs.
Welterweight - over 155 lbs. to 170 lbs.
Middleweight - over 170 lbs. to 185 lbs.
Light Heavyweight - over 185 lbs. to 205 lbs.
Heavyweight - over 205 lbs. to 265 lbs.


For each fighter created, a player gets 85 attribute points. The 85 points are distributed to the following 17 attributes:


-Conditioning
-Efficiency
-Strength
-Speed
-Aggressiveness
-Punching
-Kicking
-Clinching
-Heart
-Takedowns
-Sprawl
-Ground positioning
-Ground striking
-Submissions
-Killer instinct
-Intelligence
-Toughness

The name, weight, height, and attribute distribution of a fighter cannot be altered once created; however, a player has the option of changing their strategy.
Strategy
A player has the option of creating a strategy for each tournament. A player can plan their strategy by adjusting the percentages of certain techniques they want their fighter to use in a fight.

The player will fill out a “Strategy Form.” If a player chooses not to fill out a form, a default strategy will be used. The following is the Strategy Form:

General Strategy (Sum must = 100%)
-Kicking
-Punching
-Grappling
-Resting
-Dirty fighting

Punching Strategy (Sum must = 100%)
-Medium/Long range punching
-Dirty boxing (Clinch)

Takedown Strategy (Sum must = 100%)
-Clinch Takedowns
-Low/Leg Takedowns

Kicking Strategy (Sum must = 100%)
-Low kicks
-High kicks
-Knees

Ground strategy (Sum must = 100%)
-Positioning
-Striking
-Submissions
Results
The results of the matches will be posted after the matches have occurred with a play-by-play of the match so a player may analyze their fight for future strategic planning.


Additional Attribute Points
For each win, a player will get 3 additional attribute points. A player will be rewarded with “bonus” attribute points for having consecutive wins as is follows:

2 consecutive wins = 4 points
3 consecutive wins = 4.5 points
4 consecutive wins = 5 points


The maximum amount of points you can earn for a fight is 5 so for every consecutive win after the 4th win, you would get 5 points.

The following is a possible win scenario that shows how points would be rewarded.

A fighter wins a fight so they are rewarded with 3 attribute points. In the fighters next fight they win again so they are rewarded with 4 points (basic reward of 3 points plus 1 point win steak bonus). The next fight the fighter losses so they get no reward. In the next fight after the fighter’s loss they win so they get a 3 point reward (regular reward plus no win streak bonus).


Fight Schedule

Tournaments or regular fight cards are currently held weekly to determine the best fighters. The fight frequency may vary dependent upon member interest, the busy nature of our lives, and other factors that have yet to present themselves.

Section II

To encourage more membership, we humbly ask for the help of Fightforum.com. We firmly believe that the game will only succeed with the further participation of our currently involved members, and (more importantly) the participation of as many members of Fight Forum as possible. With the growth of the game, we hope to create a better community.

As things currently stand, the SIM game works out of one thread. We have purposely worked out of one thread to avoid cluttering our boards with every weekly tournament and to be respectful to Fight Forum.

However, working out of one thread makes it very difficult at times to ask questions, post results, give announcements, present suggestions, identify new players, etc.

To improve the Fight Forum SIM MMA Game and continue the growth thereof, we ask for your consideration in the following ideas:

1) A “Fight Forum SIM MMA Game” sub-forum located under the “Fighting Video Games” forum.

2) The creation of 2 “sticky threads” that read
A) Fight Forum SIM MMA Game rules
B) Fight Forum SIM MMA Game Bets

3) A new member account named “SIM Game Bookie” for the game administrator/s so that this account can earn points for the game, place bets from members, and to avoid a conflict of interest regarding points. The game administrator/s shall use this account only, and always, use it when dealing with the game.

4) The “SIM Game Bookie” account will only place bets for members betting against other members. This account cannot bet with other members nor may any of its administrator/s.

4) Any points under the “SIM Game Bookie” account will be put in the bank as often as possible to earn interest.

5) All points earned will be property of the SIM Game and will be only be used only to award to players who win a tournament/match.

6) Any administrator/s of the game will not participate.

7) A one time donation of points, of any amount Fight Forum feels is appropriate, to the “SIM Game Bookie” account from Fight Forum. These points will be used to award to winners of the game and to be used as an incentive for playing.

We again ask for your consideration in these ideas, we are open to, any and all, suggestions, comments, and/or concerns. We in no way want to create more work for the moderators. We give our word that we will try our hardest to keeps things fun and organized for the members and trouble-free for the moderators.

this sounds very interesting, just seems so confusing... is it the type of thing you can get used to after awhile?

Well the most confusing stuff is when you first start. There are 14 or 15 people playing now and they all seem to be understanding it fine. The thing that people have been having the hardest time understanding is how many points you get when you win.

Yeah, the only hard part is just creating your fighters. And thats pretty easy to do. You name them, give them a height/weight, and then you just adjust the attributes.

After that, the game pretty much takes care of itself. The only other thing left to do is plan your strategy whenever your fight rolls around.
