Default Houston Alexander's go for broke style

We've see it before. The late Gilbert Aldana came to the UFC with a string of lightning quick KO wins only to feel the pain of defeat repeatedly in the Octagon. Mike Swick, earns the nickname "quick" to describe the short amount of time it took for him to dispatch opponents. Only to hit a roadblock in The Crow and then a loss to Okami. Now we have Alexander, with his go for broke style he has beaten two top LHW's in the UFC and looking for number 3. How does one go about duplicating his style and at the sametime should we?

Well there is actually alot of similiarities between him and Anderson Silva. They both use the clinch well and understand how to throw interior strikes with great velocity. The best way I have seen to beat this is get your hips as close to them as possible while you post your upperbody back. I think it was Okami that did this so well against A Silva when he beat him. If you watch that fight you can see how it really nullifies the strikes from the clinch.
I think if Alexander is taken into the later rounds his style will work against him as he seems to expend a large amount of energy with his first round burst.

I like his throwing the tires uphill routine. Looks like it hurts.

I like ALexander, the funny thing is how you mentioned, he's so quick that we really don't know where he's at in other aspects of his fight game.

How would he do off his back? How's his sub defense? Etc.

Questions till left unaswered. Again, he seems to be answering those questions by simply KTFOing his opponents. That's the best submission defense.

Alexander said himself "they have to get through my first line on defence to see what else I got."

Good points above about quick KOers and how their game came to a halt. I'm sure someone will stop him, but the question is When? and Who? The guy looks good so far. Who knows maybe he'll never be stopped.

Looks like he got stopped. Two quick KO's is a pretty good feat in the UFC. no shame in a loss.

Looks like he ground defense aint great. I kinda had a hunch any guy that could get him on his back could finish him there.

I guess it happen sooner rather then later lol. Good first impression and I'm sure we'll see more good fights by him. Hopefully he learn something, which I'm sure he did.

That fight definitely answered a few questions about Alexander's overall game. In his defence, Silva came at him like a spider monkey on the ground, most fighters would have withered under that beatdown.

In terms of go-for-broke, I think it is a mindset that a fighter has before he even begins training. That kind of intensity seems almost instinctual, but sharpened by training technique and having the neccessary cardio to pull it off.
