Default Crossing your legs with a back mount

i heard that if you get a back mount, say your going for a rear naked choke, and you cross your legs over in front of him, he can submit you by breaking your shins or ankles. how would he go about doing this?

If your ankles are crossed, all the opponent has to do is cross one of his legs over your top leg and press down. It's very painful!

i suppose your ankles would be below their hip level so they could do that

An even nastier way to do it is to bring a leg over the ankles, and instead of just pressing down, figure-4'ing your lets together and using the pressure on your entire core. Absolute destruction! It comes on so fast, one moment your working a choke, feeling all good about yourself, then BAM! You're trying to shout tap and Ooooooouch at the same time.

If your ankles are crossed above my hip level, I'm just gonna spin around into you and work from inside your guard.

I don't do BJJ but is'nt the ideal thing to do when you have someone's back and are trying to apply a choke is to get your hooks in and try to flatten your opponent out?

Thats ideal. When you flatten them out they have dont have the body or limb placement for an escape, sweep, or the ability to get their shoulder on the mat.

Sure if he's belly down, but you can get the back mount in the sitting, standing, etc. positions.

What's really nice is when you get them like belly down with wrist control, and flatten them out while turning their wrist/s downward under their body, rendering your opponent armless on at least one side...good luck defending the choke from there

When you have someones back, and your back is on the mat you can get hooks in by hooking yourfeet inside there legs and not crossing your ankles.

Well yeah, having your hooks in is having them inside your opponents thigh region, regardless of position on the mat.

Yes but im saying that you don't want to have your feet crossed when your on your back with a RNC instead hook you feet to the inside of there legs.

Absolutely, but I think legs crossed is poor form in any position.
