Muay Thai Training
I'm looking to start Muay Thai in the near future and the local class is on twice a week, but due to the fact I'm already training in Systema I can only make one class a week.
I was wondering how many times a week guys that are currently training Muay Thai train at the moment and do they think I'd be wasting my time with only one class a week.

As with anything, the more you do it the better you get. You can make improvements in Muay Thai training only once a week. Especially if you're physically active during the rest of the week. After awhile you could begin doing some bag work at home if you have a heavy bag. The bottom line is that to be really good at something you have to commit yourself to it. If you're just looking to have some fun then i say one day a week is fine.

Well it depends on how quickly you wanna learn really. I have a private lesson on Thursday, padwork, techniques and light sparring. Then I have a class on Fri, with drills and some more heavy sparring.
Either way, i wouldn't say once a week is wasting your time. What are your goals? My instructor sometimes gives me some "homework" that i can practice for the following week. For example, moves in front of a mirror, balancing techniques etc.
Pardon my ignorance, but What is Systema?

Mike Goldberg: That knee was big!
Stephen Quadros: Frye's getting the standing 8-Count here, Bas
Bas Rutten: Why's he getting the standing 8-Count?
Stephen Quadros: Well, he's getting his ass kicked.

Thanks for the replies.
Primarily I want to to train in Thai Boxing for fun and fitness and by your posts it looks like one class a week to start would be ok. Obviously if I enjoy it and get serious I can take it from there.
Systema is a millitary combat style developed from by the Russians. The class I go to is Systema Concepts which has its foundations based in systema but also includes core combatives.
Check out Russian Martial Art. The System. and Systema Concepts

Yeah that sounds good but some will say that 5 days a week is a lot for starting out.

5 days a week is to much for a beginner to startout on. I would go 3 days a week and rest and/or do roadwork and weight training the other 2 or 3 days. But the catch to all this is with the weight training go light starting out and not heavy until you get into your 2nd month. Let your body get used to the work load.

Hard core thats a lot of training, Good stuff yo.
I would sort out your Diet other wise you will blow out pretty quickly and you will end up in a worse state than when you began.
When I go to the gym I do 5 major and 4 minor muscles. 5 exersices on Pect and then 4 on tricpets or 5 on Back then 4 on Bicep (well I would if I did any direct work on my Bicep). I find that works better for me because as they say train smarter not harder.
Also see if you can buy some pure glucose in a power form I found that really helpfull when I was doing 3 training sessions per day to help keep my energy up. If you have some before your work outs and during it gives you instant energy to burn.

My friend is an ex bodybuilder, that him who gave me the routine for the gym. I don't have more than 4 exercise a day in gym. And I take vitamins and proteines for now. And we will see how my body react.
And yes is a lot of working. But i'm in vacation and I don't have friend so I have nothing to do in my day loll.
And i'm training with Stephane Dube he's so nice
