When you get to a higher level, it will be harder to finish the submission itself, but there's a ton of transitions and other subs from the omoplata position.

i like the carni, a rubber guard variation of the omoplata because with the far leg hooked it prevents them from rolling which is one of the common omoplata counters
You can throw a Omoplata like you throw an armbar......Rather then pulling the rubber guard like position if you don't have great leg movement.
Rather then attacking the inside arm and putting them on their back to try for an armbar....You throw your leg over their far arm and then trap it and roll them to their belly that will put you in omoplata postion all you have to do is posture up to finish it.
It's a simple rocking motion you throw almost the same move like an armbar but leave that inside arm alone and go for only the outside arm hold the wrist good rock them down and your done.
