that is how i comprehend a jab also, kind of like a segway to a big combo.

On the subject of The Jab...

I was just thinking the other day- what is the most suitable target for The Jab? I know you should go for whatever is open, but aiming wise, what target should you be looking for?

Jabs to the body seem almost useless on some people, and they leave you open for a lot.

The most common target is the chin, like with most punches. This is what I was thinking about: Why not go for the nose instead? With a hook, a straight, an uppercut..you've got a good chance of knocking your opponent out if you ding him on the chin, but with a jab you'll mostly likely just phase him, which is a great way to set something up, but if you jab to the nose, it will also stun him enough for a good setup. Plus, there's the chance you'll break his nose, and an even better chance you'll make him bleed, which has several benefits from the psychological state to the fact that it will effect his breathing. The nose is also closer to you than the chin, especially seeing as most people put their chin down. The nose is also less protected.

I'm thinking:

Chin Jabs < Nose Jabs

What do you guys think?

Jabbing to the nose can be extremely effective in you hit your target. Swelling, bleeding, or both can make it harder to breathe, which wears down your opponent alot faster, and if you see him with his mouth open, start throwing harder punches, you stand a better chance of rocking him, but be careful not to wear yourself out trying to. That said, to hit a specific target like the nose, chin, or jaw with a jab is very difficult unless you have extremely fast hands. Your opponent should be moving and have his hands up, so you should be flicking out that jab to setup up combinations, not to do the damage itself.
