I had a good sparring session last night with a more experienced kickboxing instructor and we went at it for about a half hour for about 8 regulation kickboxing rounds.
It was a great back and forth at about 80% power/intensity.
In the 6th round we were both tired and MT clinched each other into what we call a double Muay Thai trap. Basically both guys have each other in a MT clinch. So I inside kneed him a few times and he did the same back, but then he broke off and landed a sweet inside across the face elbow which gave me a nice little mouse under my left eye.
It's a rather unorthodox elbow, it's basically a cross, only with the elbow, but it's upward elbow, not a cross elbow.
Anyone ever tried this? It really dinged me pretty good and wobbled me more than I expected even with the headgear, it snuck in there pretty decently.
The only time I saw it used in MMA was Tito/Ken I tito went uppercut left hook, cross elbow on Ken before double leg take-down.
