Caesar Takeshi, president of ShootBoxing, fighting James Bashim in 1987 for the championship. Great match. Shocking too, because if you saw t he guy today youd just think he was some guy in a flashy suit
i love his technique of kill the legs then when the guy starts duckign his head to try and evade the leg kick switch to the head. simialr to what gsp did vs hughes, several leg kicks then when hughes shot for the single leg he switched the head kick, kind of baiting him into it.
* Asia Pacific Kickboxing Federation Welterweight champion
* Asia Pacific Kickboxing Federation Middleweight champion
* Japan Shoot Boxing Association Hawkweight 1st champion (1986)
* World Shoot Boxing Association Hawkweight 1st champion (1988)
(Shootboxing in its early days had unique weight classes, all named after different birds. The SB logo is an Eagle.. guess Caesar enjoyed himself some audoban society. Hawkweight was roughly Middleweight btw.)
Nice vid Aikai. That was just a classic demonstration of neutralizing a superior striker by taking his legs out. That guy couldnt even stand up at the end. His right thigh probably looked like hamburger meat when that fight was over. That first left leg kick to the head came out of nowhere too. Great video.
