This is it! The best of the best in the K-1 lightweight division will be fighting in Tokyo to see who will reign supreme for 2007 in the K-1 MAX's 2007 World Tournament Final. K-1 MAX is an exciting yet underrated league and while it does not seem to get as much time and attention from FEG as K-1 does, the fights are exciting and the fans get their money's worth. Here is a preview of the final card of the year.
Buakaw Por. Parmuk vs. Masato Kabayashi
The crowd will be energized for this match. Two-time K-1 MAX World Grand Prix champ Kabayashi has wanted this fight for a long time. The last time these two met was at the memorable 2004 MAX World Grand Prix Final match. Parmuk, who was a newly added talent at the time, utterly dismantled Kabayashi via extra round unanimous decision to become 2004 champ and also sent him to the hospital. Fast forward a couple years to the 2006 MAX World Grand Prix. Kabayashi had the opportunity to take on Parmuk in the finals, but his game plan was thrown off by the defending 2005 champ, Andy Souwer, to whom he lost via unanimous decision. Souwer went on to the finals only to be knocked out by Parmuk in the second round, making Parmuk a double champ. So, the stage is set. Both men have been taking it easy this year and enter with a string of wins. Parmuk has decision wins against Tsogoto Amara, Andy Ologon, and Nieky Holtzken and Kabayashi holds decision wins over Ole Larsen and K-1 HERO’S champ Gesias Calvancanti in a K-1 match. Will Kabayashi finally get his revenge or will this match be another footnote in the possible third reign of Parmuk?
