I'm not too familiar with Akiyama so I guess I'd have to pick Kang.

The only ones I'm familiar with is Kang and that Dong Sik Yoon guy.
Yoon's record is decieving, he's very tough.

Akiyama, or Chu Sang-hoon as he's known in Korea, might be one of the best middleweight/light-heavyweights out there. His stand-up can be a little erratic (great last night, horrible against Manhoef) but his ground and pound is fearsome (as he showed against Sakuraba). I would love to see him fight Rampage or some of the other top UFC guys.
MTKrav, nice call on Yoon. That guy is one of the all-time great Judo masters and his record doesn't really indicate what a great fighter he really is/will be. Two of his first four fights were against Rampage and Sakuraba. That's just rude, throwing him in against guys like that as a rookie. He had a geat night last night though.

Grrr, is Akiyama a Zainichi Korean or was he born in Korea? I know Akira Maeda was born Il-Myung Koh but took a Japanese name to avoid discrimination.

This is off topic.. But..
Love to see you posting back again in our FF Aika!!
I asked this before but I guess you didn't see my Q..
How the hell you know SO MUCH about Asian cultures.. i.e. China, Japan and Korea.. I mean, I noticed that you know lots of vocabularies, old history, movies, etc.. And I bet everything that you also watch Anime too!!
Don't get me wrong.. I think it's really COOL!!
Few days back, I found out that Jras speaks multi-languages including Farsi and Spanish..
I admire you guys for that A LOT!
Anyways, Take care man!!
Keep on visiting us some more!

Woah! Kang was by far 2nd best in terms of striking i think. He did try for 1 takedown..but nicely blocked by Akiyama and didnt try again.
He had a dazed expression on his face after he was knocked out.

He's a Zainichi. He wears both Japanese and Korean flags on his dobok sleeves.
Dennis Kang is a real fan favorite in Korea and is well-known for his work with Spirit MC but if you noticed all the signs in the arena were for Chu! Chu has built a huge following in Korea in a really short amount of time. I think his win at the Grand Prix last year catapulted him to the top.
Even though I didn't vote, I feel vindicated to some small extent by Chu's win. One of my knowitall buddies was saying Kang would devastate Chu with his speed. I told him that was a joke. Kang is fast but not exactly exceptionally fast whereas Chu has already shown that he can counter speed as he did with Manhoef. Then my buddy started to give me this line of BS about how slow Manhoef is and how Kang is "by far" the faster of the two. I had a really good laugh at him after the fight.

Just watched the fight. It looked to me like Kang was winning the round until Akiyama came out of nowhere with that uppercut. I had no idea he had that kind of 1 punch KO power. Very impressive. I still think Kang is a beast, but Akiyama really impressed me in this fight, let's see him take on a few other big name guys, he's looked damned good so far.

I dunno man, Akiyama wobbled Kang early on and even broke his nose I think. Kang was bloodied up and blinking a lot. Akiyama's underrated imo, although I picked Kang to win Im not surprised that he didnt. AKAIK the only person to beat him so far in MMA is Jerome Le Banner who outweighed him by over 30lbs.
@ Ninjabot...I think it would be criminal not to put him in the top 10 now, considering he won last years 187lb tournament and has now beaten top 10 ranked Denis Kang. Other top10 MWs like Lindland, Kang, Marquardt, Lawler etc havent even beaten anyone in the top 10 so I definately think Akiyama deserves to be in there.
