Dream 6 Middleweight GP matchups announced.

DREAM has announced the pairings for the final round of it’s inaugural middleweight grand prix, which will culminate at DREAM.6 on September 26th at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The event will be televised live on HDNet in North America.

Grappling wizard Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who won a hard-fought decision over Jason “Mayhem” Miller to advance to the tournament’s final round, will take on skilled kickboxer Zelg Galesic in one semi-final. The other will see tournament favorite Melvin Manhoef face off against well-rounded rising prospect Gegard Mousasi. The winners of both bouts will then fight in the show’s main event.

Also announced for DREAM.6 was a featherweight bout between the streaking Hideo Tokoro, winner of his last two fights, and Shooto and Pancrase product Atsushi Yamamoto. Additional rumored participants include former PRIDE heavyweight standout Mirko Cro Cop, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, and rising middleweight Yoshihiro Akiyama.

It will be interesting to see the ratings in the end for this one. Unfortunately, with all 4 semi-finalists being gaijin, that may hurt ratings. Hopefully Akiyama and CroCop will be ready.

SWEET! This will be the first one I get to watch live, because I finally have HDNet now! I'm stoked to watch these fights! DREAM has put on some great cards, just sucked for me to have to search for all of them online. This time I will have the pleasure of watching live though, or DVR'ing it!

Niiiiiiice fights.... I see the final being Jacare vs Manhoef, with Jacare taking it in spectacular, highlight reel submission. They're all brilliant fighters though, so who knows?!

I think it'll be Mousasi and Jacare in the finals, and Mousasi will win via UD.

I'd like to see a DREAM section but if everyone knows where it is...that's cool too. Maybe if they stick around for a while, that'll change. Stay tuned.

I think it should be renamed the Ryduce/Opsy campaign headquarters.

Anyways, this is the most excited I have been for a non-UFC event since the OWGP final in 2006.

I could see Mousasi upsetting Manhoef, but more than likely it will be a Jacare/Manhoef finale with Jacare walking away with the victory and one of Manhoef's limbs.

I know the CroCop fans will off themselves if CroCop drops another one, but at this moment the confluence of CroCop's recent beatdowns and Overeem's confidence at HW will prove to bring Overeem from the plateau of mediocrity that he has frequented for most of his career. I got a feeling things are taking place for Overeem and he will be a force in the next year or so.
