Default CroCop vs. Hong Man Choi at K-1 Dynamite - UPDATED

It looks like Cro Cop may have an opponent for Fields Dynamite!! 2008, and his name isn’t Alistair Overeem or Badr Hari. You might want to sit down for this…it’s Hong Man Choi. DreamFighters.com got the scoop, and it was later announced on the official K-1 Korea website.

DreamFighters.com has learned from a close FEG official that Mirko Crocop and Hong Man Choi will fight and possibly fight each other at Fields Dynamite, however, it has yet to be confirmed, or if these two fighters are just simply fighting on the same card. K-1 Korea Official has just confirmed this.

It has not been confirmed on FEG North America as of now. We will bring more confirmation and sources soon.

Default Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic Vs Hong Man Choi at K-1 NYE

Can you say freak show fight? lol, Cant wait for this one

Fighters Only is reporting that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will face Hong Man Choi at the K-1 Fields Dynamite New Year’s Eve show in Japan. Apparently the event organizers felt like with the card the way it was, there wasn’t enough hype coming towards the event. This should solve that problem.

Cro Cop was hoping to settle his score with Alistair Overeem on NYE on account of the bad blood between them, but that’s already been ruled out, so why not fight a giant? Choi doesn’t seem to care what happens as long as he gets to do a painfully awkward dance routine at some point in the evening. URdirt.com says the bout will be contested under K-1 rules, not MMA rules.

It adds to a card that also features MMA matches like Eddie Alvarez vs. Shinya Aoki, Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Kiyoshi Tamura, Joachim Hansen vs. Gesias Calvancante, and a K-1 rules bout between Mark Hunt and Jerome LeBanner, among other action. It’s sure to be a night of fights that is entertaining for several different reasons.

If this sad case of a match goes through then Crocop will effectively end two careers that night.

No doubt. Is he being punished?

Hey maybe that's the route they should take with Dirty Hari...MMA rules - give him Fedor, CroCop, Overeem and throw in Semmy for the hell of it.

The Korean K-1 site is still the only one reporting this. Most of the traditional Japanese MMA sites have not mentioned anything other than Gryphon mentioning the K-1 Korea report and poster.

Let's not forget the rumor out of Croatia last week saying Badr Hari was being offered a fight with CroCop. And FEG's producer last week said HMC would likely not fight any K-1 rules matches in the near future, as Aika pointed out.

We are a little over 2 weeks away, so who knows who is actually fighting on this card other than those 6 fights already announced as well as the semis and finals of the U18 tournament.

    Eddie Alvarez VS Shinya Aoki
    Mark Hunt VS Jerome LeBanner
    Kazushi Sakuraba VS Kiyoshi Tamura
    Joachim Hansen VS J.Z.Calvancante
Kozo Takeda VS Tatsuya Kawajiri with K-1 Rules
Musashi VS Gegard Mousasi with K-1 Rules

I can't help but LOL at "Musashi vs Mousasi"

Maybe after that we can get Silva vs Sulva and then Johnson vs Johnston and Burns vs Barnes!
To be shpongled is to be kippered, mashed, smashed, destroyed, completely geschtonkenflapped. Feels so smooth..... everything tingling.

Looks like this one is about to be official. From CroCop's official blog, to which he has made accurate announcements in the past.

I'm excited to let you know that I have accepted DREAM's offer to fight against Hong-man Choi on December 31 at Dynamite show. We arranged all details and the contract has been signed - the fight is officialy on.

I must say I'm happy with this opportunity to fight again in this year. This wasn't the best year for me and I'm hoping that I'll end it in a good spirit. I'm also happy to fight again in Japan at New Year's Eve, which is always truly a fantastic experience.

There were plenty of rumors circling around about this fight and I'll suggest once again that official information regarding my arrangements can be found only on MMA-ID: MMA Profiles, MMA Videos, MMA News, under my profile. Don't believe to any MMA source and keep in mind that some people are willing to do anything just to boost their traffic.

So how do I feel about this fight? I already told you that I'm excited and it's really a problem for me to accept this fight with only 14 days left to go. I've been training hard after my last fight and I'm ready to face the Korean giant. When you fight the opponent of that size, you just have to take the fight very seriously. Under MMA rules he's not experienced, but he's big and strong and that makes him dangerous.

Although I'm still having some difficulties with my old injuries there won't be any excuses left in case of a bad result. I'll handle this issues in January, but against Choi I'll be ready and nothing will stop me this time. I'll just do my best and end this year with a win hopefully. Then I'll focus on 2009 and work on the further steps in my career.

Thank you for being patient when waiting for this announcement and thank you from bottom of my heart for your huge support. Don't miss the show and have fun with your famillies and friends until then!
