With no real competition for the UFC anymore i have to say, I miss PrideFC. alot of promotions have attempted to fill the void but so far none of them have really come close. Even the UFC, with no competition has'nt evolved beyond what they were previously. I don't know about everyone else here, but i really need a breath of fresh air and so far the UFC has not delivered.
Three words: Ab so lutely. I am hoping that DREAM will pick up a little bit of the slack, but with the splintering of the Japanese landscape in the wake of PRIDE's demise, it will be difficult for them to consolidate the wide range of talent that PRIDE once had on its roster. DREAM's light weight tournament put a spotlight (in my mind at least) on the depth of the LW division outside the UFC, regardless of the division being dubbed the "most dynamic" by Rogan and Goldberg. It is a shame, though, that Gomi was not involved due to his allegiance with World Victory Road. It appears that there will be a void until there is some Japanese consolidation, but until that time, no Japanese organization will push the UFC to evolve.
I'm just glad I got to live throught that era. When we get even older and try to tell people about the show Pride put on, they probably look at ya like you had 3 heads. This reminds me of a song. Enjoy.
Don't know what you got till its gone. Ain't that the truth.
