Clinton, IA. It's about 45-60 minutes out of Bettendorf/Davenport.

Too bad your about 40+ miles away from Bettendorf. I can't think of anything within 20 miles of you.

Oh yeah -- of course there's Miletich. That's funny that I thought of Iowa and didn't think of Pat. Not that he's strictly BJJ, but the skillset's there.

Does Militech accept people from the general public? I know it's a bit aways, but I think it would be worth it.

It depends what your plans are. They run classes for the public, so you'd get to train there and you get worked good and hard, and you'd learn a lot. Does he accept people from the general public to join his actual fight team, with Lawler and Sylvia and Hughes, etc? As a rule, no. You'd have to really impress him with your skill, and I've heard him say that when someone claims they want in, he puts them in the ring with his guys and they get the crap beat out of them. Then if they come back the next day, he does it again. And he keeps doing it until you convince him that you're not giving up no matter how tough it is.

He tells one story of a guy who quit his job and packed up his life and drove across the country to his gym, saying he was going to become a professional MMA fighter and nothing would stop him. After two days of the treatment I just mentioned, he went back home.

Here's the class schedule, where you don't have to spar hard with Robbie Lawler:

Also check out the link in the sidebar on their site for "training camps."

Anybody have an idea of how much it costs to join the basic classes?
