I'm learning to play guitar, been playing for about 2 and a half years now. But I can't play too much cuz university stuff takes up too much time. I barely get to play. Usually just once a week. Twice if I'm lucky.
I listen to everything, from blues to indie, to hard rock to metal. But I mostly play blues-rock like Hendrix and Cream, and other stuff from that time, I love '70's rock.
I'm just starting out, so I don't have a top-notch guitar. I play an Ibanez GAX75. It's cool though, cuz it's got that drop-D switch, so I can switch to drop-D tuning with a flip of the switch. The guitar plays good enough for where I'm at right now. I just got a cheap Crate practice amp but I don't use it.
These days I play through Line6's GuitarPort. It's pretty cool, it lets you play through your computer, and gives you dozens of amp, cab and stompbox models (like a POD) that sound close to the real thing. And recording's pretty easy with it too. Anyone ever tried GuitarPort or TonePort? Here's the link:
