Default Jeff Monson vs Pedro Rizzo to Headline Art of War 3

Pretty well stocked fight card for this event including Monson, Rizzo, Ricco Rodriquez, Macio Cruz, Jeremy Horn, Jake Shields, and Ron Waterman.

Check out the full story here on MMAonTap.

Nice...I wish they were on PPV so I could watch their cards. They have done a descent job so far putting them together. The Monson fight will be interesting but I see him winning on the ground.

Pedro vs Monson? HO-LEE Shiatrics. This has the potential to be one of the best HW fights of the year outside of the UFC. I'm going to say Monson by submission, but I really, really hope Pedro Rizzo fights like the Pedro of old, the one that almost beat Couture by decision and knocked out guys like AA and Josh Barnett.

WAR RIZZO!

I don't know what it is with these lower rate orgs. Why are they so hard to watch? God forbid a fans sees your broadcast.

That sounds pretty good for a smaller org. It would be nice to see someone in Alberta do that lol

How long have these guys been around? I know that there is a Chinese organization of the same name that has been around since 2004, but I don't think that it is the same group.
Here's their website.

MMACHINA.COM ::: The Official Site of the Art of War MMA Challenge :::

Check out the rules page. I would love to see this adapted to the UFC and Pride. Elbows on the ground, soccer kicks, and knees to the head on the ground aren't listed in the penalties and a definitive point system.

Here is the aforementioned Art of War webpage.

Do you think MMA weekly or Sherdog will go play by play announcements, like they do sometimes in past events.?

I would like to see this fight, but I guess this is the next best alternative.

I agree Crash. My first thought when I got the report was "Will Monson actually make it to this show?" There was the Bodog fiasco and I believe another dropped show (GFC?) late last year. And originally, he was on the card for the upcoming Gracie Fighting Championships this weekend against Wes Sims. Then Sims dropped out and Brian Vanderwalle stepped in. Then this past Tuesday, Monson dropped out. SO Monson has been very erratic as of late.

i heard he was still recovering from a collarbone injury that he sustained in the Fujita fight. he missed the ADCC because of it but was supposed to fight in the Gracie event if he recovered, i guess he felt it was'nt worth it.

that just sucks. the guy is no youngster anymore. i think he's like 36 and if he keeps getting hurt i fear his career may be coming to a close. he also suffered a cartilage tear in his ribs when he fough Tim Sylvia. so thats not a good track record.

The Art of War event originally scheduled for July, has been rescheduled for August 18th with the same participants and main event.

Why is it that almost every event Jeff Monson gets promoted in lately, gets changed?

on the bright side it gives Jeff some extra time to heal up and be 100%.
