Default Preview of HDNet Fights' debut event

Mark Cuban’s mixed martial arts promotion, HDNet Fights, will hold its inaugural event at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday. This promotion is Cuban’s first venture into the MMA arena. The card features the return of former Shooto champion Erik Paulson from a seven-year layoff. He will be taking on K-1 veteran Jeff Ford in what is now a heavyweight bout. Drew Fickett, Pete Spratt, and Justin Eilers will be bringing their vast UFC experience to HDNet and all three will be fighting on Saturday. Along with a fair number of veteran fighters with years of experience under their belts, the event will also feature many up-and-coming fighters that will have a chance to showcase their skills to the world. Let’s take a more in-depth look at the matchups for the event.

Main Event: Erik Paulson vs. Jeff Ford

Amazingly, Paulson returns after a seven-year layoff from the sport. He’s a former Shooto champion and he is the first American to ever win the light heavyweight Shooto title, a title which he defended for nearly 5 years. Paulson has studied nearly every single discipline of mixed martial arts, but his strengths lie in his Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Judo, and Tae Kwon Do. He has a black belt in both BJJ and Judo, and instructs Tae Kwon Do at his gym in Fullerton, California. Paulson has trained some of the best in world, including fighters such as Josh Barnett, Sean Sherk, and Ken Shamrock.

Im interested to see this see to find if the fights are any good. But reports ive read online, the crowd is kinda subdued and tamed.

UFC crowds are well known to have crazy fans cheering and the energy from the arena can be felt from those watching on tv.

If this kind of atmosphere continues for HDNET Fights, they need to buck up.

But hey,its their BETA show..so hopefully they'll fix it.
