Default Amazing CFC Card here in the UK...

Sounds too good to be true, I'll be very surprised if this line-up doesnt change before fight time...

http://www.metroradioarena.co.uk/eve...&ef=1&kw=&st=1

Quote:
Combat Fighting Championships is proud to announce its first ever UK event on Saturday May 17th at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle.

Mixed Martial Arts pits fighters of all disciplines into one-on-one combat and is a sport of technique, professionalism and discipline. These men are tough, this game is tough and the results are often spectacular and always compelling.

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world and in May, the CFC will bring the best the world has to offer on an action-packed night of race-pulsing entertainment to one of the top venues in the north of England.

Top of the bill will be a tantalising heavyweight clash between two of the biggest names in the sport with Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez taking on Jeff "The Snowman" Monson.

Rodriguez - a 6ft 4in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist - has beaten some of the legendary names of the Heavyweight division including Andrei Arlovski, Paul Buenetello and MMA legend and current Heavyweight number one, Randy "the Natural" Couture.

In Monson, he faces one of the most experienced Heavyweights in world MMA, a 5ft 9in pit-bull who is a master of submission wrestling and has tested his skills against some of the most dangerous proponents of MMA in history, men like Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Tim Sylvia.

Combat FC's COO M. Preston Clarke said: "To be bringing CFC to the UK is a pleasure in itself and we are excited to showcase our event in Newcastle on Saturday May 17th at the Metro Radio Arena. Combat FC is all about quality Mixed Martial Arts and is dedicated to providing the sporting world with quality MMA events. MMA is still an emerging sport in the UK and we aim to bring the best of it to new fans all over the country - we will bring the best athletes with the greatest mix of skills together and give the UK an exciting night of Mixed Martial Arts."

Karl Woolley, Combat FC's CEO, said "Our match makers are dedicated to bringing the fans the fights they want to see and we know they won't be disappointed with this card. We have athletes, like Ricco Rodriquez, who have beaten some of the top names in MMA including Randy Couture and Andrei Arlovsk. We will continue to support the development of top athletes and competitions and are willing to work with and support companies that are dedicated to quality Mixed Martial Arts."

It will be a night of drama, action and heart; of winners, losers and world class Mixed Martial Arts - the only question you need to ask is: can you afford to miss it?

Please note this line up is subject to change:

Ricco Rodriguez Vs Jeff Monson

(weight class 220lb)

David Loiseau Vs Terry Martin

(weight class 185lb)

Travis Wiuff Vs Cyrille Diabette

(weight class 205lb)

Melvin Manhoef Vs Ivan Serrati

(weight class 205lb)

Gegard Moussasi Vs Foupa Xavier Pokam

(weight class 185lb)

Jean Silva Vs Melvin Guillard

(weight class 155lbs)

Dan Hardy Vs Marios Zaromski

(weight class 170lbs)

Brad Imes Vs Robert buzz Berry

(weight class 220lbs)

Duane Ludwig Vs Mark Weir

(weight class 170lbs)

Carlos Gonzalez Vs Athoney Lesley

(weight class 155lbs)

Tickets costing £150, £100, £50, £35 and £25 will go on sale 9am Wednesday March 19th 2008.
If this does actually happen, I will put money on Zaromskis/Hardy being FOTY!

I hope this card comes to fruition, but some of these names are pretty crazy and I'd highly doubt their participation.

Terry Martin has not been released from his Zuffa contract but I could see them loaning him to CFC. Guillard has said he's on a hiatus from Zuffa to build up his record against cans. Jean Silva is far from a can and would be a decent favorite against Melvin. Gegard Moussasi is heavily rumored to be fighting in the Dream middleweight tournament just three weeks earlier. Gary Shaw has been going on and on about how much he likes Buzz Berry. I have my doubts he'd allow him to potentially get beat by Imes when he may want him ready for Kimbo Slice in June. We'll know more about this when Shaw makes announcements today regarding the June show.

I really hope this isn't a case of a promotion putting names out there to sell tickets and then having some of the participants back out. I know CFC has a good rep, but this is such a HUGE step up in level of talent as they normally use.

I heard about Ricco v. Monson. I didn't know about the depth of the card. Impressive.

That's quite a night of fights there. I also hope that holds up.
Are you going, Mulla?

Im tempted, but like I said, it sounds too good to be true!

Dont wanna get a ticket and then find out only one or two of those fights are actually happening lol.

If that card is confirmed and all fighters ARE definately appearing...then Im there in a shot!

Yep I was surprised by a lot of the Cage Rage fighters on that card. I cant imagine CR would allow Zaromskis to fight in Manchester, when he's more than likely next in line for a shot at Paul Daley's title.

Still a pretty good card and it can still improve. There's still 3 TBA's in there.

Why is every card that Jeff Monson is on contains some sort of controversy? Anyway, as always i see Jeff winning. In this case he'll probably look to keep the fight standing and use his very solid boxing skills to soften up Ricco and put his cardio to the test. People like to question Monson's gas tank, but recently Ricco has been the one running on empty. Jeff by early KO or late submission and avenges his loss.
