Good point - Bas mentioned that the other day.

It's similar to the World Combat League in that it has the "bowl look" but Yamma has the cage surrounding the pit.

Mark Kerr has been cleared by the NJACB and thus will now be fighting Oleg Taktarov in the main event. Ron Waterman has also been added to the card as an alternate to the heavyweight tournament.

The latest updated card:

MASTERS SUPERFIGHTS:
(Two Five-Minute Rounds)
-Oleg Taktarov vs. Mark Kerr
-Eric “Butterbean” Esch vs. Pat Smith

EIGHT-MAN HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT:
(One Five-Minute Round & Championship is Three Five-Minute Rounds)
-Marcelo "Pato" Pereira
-Sherman Pendergarst
-Ricco Rodriguez
-Tony Sylvester
-Chris Tuscherer
-Travis Wiuff
-Alexey Oleynik
-George Bush

-Ron Waterman (alternate)

BTW, I've merged all the threads regarding this event into one so that all the info about the event is condensed and in one easy place to find.
senior or junior!?

seriously, i think people should give it a chance! its like a legends tourney... its something new and different then everyone just making these random orgs that just spread around the talent

On their website main page video they have a good picture of it, looks like a pie and the outside is the crust, it will stop the clinching against the cage, but if your in the center you can still work a normal ground game.

I'll give it a chance. I'll atleast watch it on the internet.

I think the new cage idea is worth a look see. I agree that it does seem like it could pose a danger to ankles and knees, but who knows, it might not be an issue. I am sure when people first saw the cage there were concerns about people getting injured from the fence.

As an added bonus Scotty Ferrell is doing the play by play.

The tournament setup alone has to spark some interest.

So, what's your thoughts on Oleg vs Mark? I think Mark should be able to take him down and grind it out. Oleg's got subs but Mark's got 'em too and good defense of them too. Should be interesting.

Its been so long since Mark Kerr has looked even remotely like the Smashing Machine of old. That's not to say Oleg will roll over him, as he's only had one fight in 10 years against journeyman John Marsh in Russia.

I just found this from Luke Thomas. I got the same press release and laughed when I read it.

Could YAMMA be any worse?

Yes. Yes, it could. I'm not sure if this is a re-printed press release or the writer's own words, but the quote from Gary Goodridge is evidence enough he shouldn't be fighting:
"There are a few differences between YAMMA and UFC," says Barrie, Ont.-based former UFC champ Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge. "But the main difference to be concerned with is that there's no division weight class. A 300 lb. fighter can be paired up with a 200 lb. fighter."

The event will feature an eight-man elimination tournament to crown the YAMMA champion. Each match is one round and lasts five minutes. The championship round will be a tougher test of mettle as the two remaining fighters face off for three five-minute rounds of merciless blood-spattering action.
As low-rent as YAMMA is, it's not unreasonable to think they would try to nix weightclasses in favor of the old days of NHB, but they're not. And they can't. The athletic commission won't let them. Why Goodridge believes or said this - and without the reporter checking it - is beyond me. As is the "blood-spattering action" hyperbole. I understand there are low-rent boxing matches all over the country each weekend, but boxing isn't vying for credibility. MMA, by contrast, is. And YAMMA is doing nothing but making the march to full credibility for would-be fans and sports media alike just a little bit slower.

Thanks for nothing, Bob.
I'm sorry, but I really think this is a complete trainwreck. I'm also tired of hearing all the radio commercials this week proclaiming Gary Goodrich and Don Frye as fighting in it. Frye has been out of this for 3 weeks, so I don't want to hear they didn't have time to edit him out.

I was laughing at the weigh in video that showed George Bush fully clothed with hat and boots on in order to get to 231.

I'd say play it safe and start a new one. I'm very interested to see the results(20k on Ricco).

I just watched it, and it was ok. Not really got enough change to score a good KO, or submission. And if you got a good takedown, you are already kinda the winner it seemed.

The fighter anouncer. What a complete morron, with his robotic disturbing vioce, and his stupid extra's. He really made me fast foward all the parts he was taling. Jeez what an anoying guy.

Poor Butterbean, the commentators were giving him more of a beating than his opponent. I felt so sorry for the guy, his little arms were like chicken wings and when he ended up on the mat, 'he ain't getting back up again'.
