Yeah, this is bad news. I also liked watching several fighters from the IFL.

I went to the IFl site a few minutes ago to see if they had any fights announced, and I saw that the August 15th event was cancelled:(

Like a few others on here, I really enjoyed the IFL shows and had been to both Izod Center events and would have been at this one also. I hope somehow they can stay in business, because they have some great fighters and the Camp vs Camp idea was great for hardcore fans of the sport.

i guess it was a good thing I didn't get my tickets already!

Man, I was looking forward to that card! The April 4th card was great and the first live event I attended was an IFL event in Connecticut. It's really a shame if the org. goes under b/c it looked like they were just starting to "figure it out", until the "Hex" at least. I think there is a place for rivalries between camps in MMA (like the old Chute Boxe, BTT rivalry); the IFL really just got off on the wrong foot with their silly team names. The 4 minute rounds suck, too, but at least there were some good fights! At least now Chris Horodeki will be forced to fight some better competition, and will probably be put in his place. That place, btw, is feather weight.

Thats too bad. The IFL is a great organization thats really helped alot of fighters. Hope they survive because lets face it, there is'nt any other promotion out there that pays fighters a yearly salary with health insurance.

IFL Decides Against August 15 Event in New Jersey
6/10/2008 Organization Working On Financial Situation

NEW YORK, June 10, 2008: The International Fight League (OTC.BB: IFLI ) today announced that it has canceled its scheduled August 15 event at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in light of the company's current financial condition. IFL continues to explore options for maximizing shareholder value. However, if the IFL is unable to successfully leverage any of those options, the company may seek protection from its creditors through a court proceeding.

The IFL is working with other top MMA organizations to keep its top fighters active in the sport and showcase their talent, while it pursues options that may enable it to continue its MMA operations. Several IFL athletes will compete on the Adrenaline MMA card in Chicago on June 14, and announcements with other promoters working with IFL athletes are expected in the near future. The IFL will also continue to downsize its staff to reduce costs.

International Fight League™ (IFL) has its headquarters in New York. For more information about IFL, please see: Mixed Martial Arts – International Fight League – MMA League Events | IFL.tv.
