Exclusive: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski On January Affliction Show
MMARated.com has learned that WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko will face Andrei Arlovski at the upcoming Affliction show tentatively scheduled for January 24th in Anaheim, Calif.
Affliction Entertainment VP Tom Atencio confirmed the news with us earlier today.
Atencio also said that the promotion will officially announce the date, location and main fights on the card sometime next week and that it will be an MMA-only card but still co-promoted with Golden Boy Promotions.
"We sat down with them and couldn't come up with a main event boxing match that everyone wanted," Atenco said.
Originally, it was announced that the January show would be a mixed boxing/MMA event.
Affliction's second pay-per-view show entitled "Day of Reckoning" was supposed to occur tomorrow but was cancelled last month after reported poor ticket sales at the Thomas & Center in Las Vegas. Atencio did mention that January's show will also be called "Day of Reckoning" and will be "more stacked" than its original offering.
Last week, Arlovski defeated Roy Nelson at EliteXC: Stand Heat while Emelianenko last fought in July on the first-ever Affliction show making quick work of former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia.

I voted AA but I really just want him to win I think Fedor is probably the better fighter and a easy favorite to win this.

I'm going with Andrei, no fighter is unstoppable, I know the whole 'not human' thing is fun and all but I think Andrei will knock Fedor out.

It will be interesting to see what the odds are going into this fight. I for one think it could go either way, but chose Fedor based on AA's previous KO losses.

YAY!!!
Two of my favourite fighters squaring off against each other gives me a major boner!
This is also one of the best match ups in MMA history.. Both fighters have solid skills in all areas of combat, and to make it better, they are well versed in the same martial art, Sambo.
I'm not gonna pick a winner here.. I would like to see Fedor lose, just to see how he handle a real loss. Then I would love to see him go undefeated throughout his career.
I will however make a pick......... FIGHT OF THE YEAR!!!

I don't see Fedor walking through Arlovski like he did Sylvia, but Fedor will come out with the win.

Fedor will win. Arlovski is good but not good enough when the huge fights come around. He could still be at the top of the UFC if he didn't get gun shy in his 3rd fight with Tim. I see AA being hesitant and its going to cost him the fight.

Great fight prospectively. I think after AA's recent 2 victories that he'll come out all guns blazing. I'm really pulling for him, but my head's still saying Fedor will take this one.
I'm sure if AA did go on to win this fight and become the new WAMMA Heavyweight champion, he'll become hot property in the MMA world and I'm sure Dana White will be kicking himself for not renewing AA's contract and letting him go.
Also be interesting to see how Fedor copes with a loss and would love to see he next fight after it. But unfortunately I don't think it'll happen. Fedor via TKO, Round 1.

Mh.. this is strange. Fedor is more than likely going to fight in Japan on NYE. I don´t think he´ll take a fight in the same month against AA. Either they are going to re-schedule the 24th, or AA is not going to fight Fedor. Having said that... Fedor by Submission.

I can't see Arlovski beating Fedor but it will be a good fight. Arlovski doesn't seem to turn up when it matters, and I don't think that will change.
Fedor, sub, round 2.

Holy crap, 10 people voted AA! Wow, shocking to see. I like Arlovski, but I think he will be finished in this fight, KO, Tap or stoppage. I don't see it going to the judges.

I'm a huge Arlovski fan but from what I've seen in his recent fights, he has no chance against Fedor at all.

I vote for Fedor on this fight, his striking is very unorthodox and his submission skills is better than AA.
