The last Cage Rage was really really good. I was surprised at how good the fights were. It was tough seeing Freeman go down like that. But Manhoef is a scary dude. Epstein is in trouble. I also think Silva got robbed.
I like that they allow stomps now with the open guard rule. I just wish they would start allowing knees on the ground.

His opponent had to pull out due to injury. They are hoping to reschedule the fight for September.
Tank Abbott's fight against Amokrane "Kiane" Sabet in the United Kingdom's Cage Rage promotion has been postponed due to a training injury suffered by Kiane.
The fight was scheduled to take place this Saturday, July 1st, on a card that will also include Ian Freeman vs. Melvin Manhoef.
I went to visit Kiane in the hospital, and all the while he was saying that he wanted to fight. The doctors all said the same thing: "You will not be able to fight."
Kiane made the following statement:
“I would like to let you all know that I was recently admitted to hospital after injuring myself in training. The injury was diagnosed as a condition known as ‘Gilmore’s Groin.' This involved torn abdomen muscles and needed immediate surgery. Due to these unfortunate circumstances my fight with Tank has had to be postponed. I would however like to categorically state that I am not pulling out. This duel will go ahead no matter what. My injury has been a minor set-back but it doesn’t deter me in any way from taking on Tank and fulfilling the challenge I have set myself.
This is a challenge that will make martial arts history and I want you all to know that my training really did start from scratch six months ago! My only experience as a fighter prior to this was in 1999. (A fight that was fought with much inexperience, and only 4 sessions of training at London Shoot Fighter). I can only apologise however to all those who have been anticipating this match on July the 1st and promise you, once again, a fight in September that will truly make history me knocking out Tank.”

Yeah, Cage Rage 17 was pretty good! Like you said, Manhoef is a scary dude, and I expect to see him in Pride or UFC before too much longer. If he has a few more fights like the one against Freeman, he will be getting larger paychecks in no time.
I was very disappointed in James Thompson. If he doesn't get a KO in the first few minutes, it's over for him it seems. Broughton showed a ton of heart, but he never should have won that fight. It might be time for Thompson to come to the UFC HW division.

I dont know if mmaweekly got the names mixed up, but this cant be a title fight as Melvin Menhoef is the LHW champion!
Baroni v Weir should be an interesting fight! As much as I like Weir, I see Phil winning by KO.

True, Manhoef is the champ. And as far as I've read, that fight likely signaled the retirement of Freeman.

I think it is supposed to say Epstein vs. Manhoef for the title. Epstein took the mic and talked about fighting Melvin after he beat Freeman. So I was under the impression that was going to happen. Must just be a mixup.

I dunno, theres a logo at the top of the CR site that advertises a fight between Freeman and Epstein so I think they are fighting...just not for the title.
It makes sense that Epstein does get a title shot as I think he's won his last 5 fights...but realistically he doesnt stand a chance against Manhoef. Not sure what will happen if Ian wins the fight, doesnt make much sense to put him against Melvin again.

Here's the confirmed card as it stands (from sherdog.com):
Ian Freeman (Pictures) vs. Mark Epstein (Pictures) (British lightheavyweight title)
Robert Berry (Pictures) vs. Rob Broughton (Pictures) (British heavyweight title)
Tony Fryklund (Pictures) vs. Alex Reid (Pictures)
Dave Legeno (Pictures) vs. TBA
Gregory Bouchelaghem (Pictures) vs. TBA
Mustapha Al Turk vs. Henry Miller (Pictures)
Sol Gilbert (Pictures) vs. Paul Daley (Pictures) (British welterweight title)
Brad Pickett (Pictures) vs. Robbie Oliver (British featherweight title)
Zelg Galesic (Pictures) vs. James E Nicolle (Eliminator - winner faces Mark Weir (Pictures) for the British middleweight title)
Plus 2 unconfirmed fights:
Murillo 'Ninja' Rua vs. Mark Weir
Dan 'The Beast' Severn vs. Marcio 'Pe De Pano' Cruz
I think Ninja v Weir should be an excellent fight if it happens. Hopefully Mark'll pull off the win and get another shot in Bushido!
