Default WEC: Faber v. Pulver, June 1st

Looking forward to this one too. Sunday night MMA...that's weird.

WEC Announces Faber vs. Pulver, Torres vs. Tapia for June 1 - MMAjunkie.com

Quote:
World Extreme Cagefighting today officially announced two title fights for a June 1 show: WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber (20-1) vs. former UFC title-holder Jens Pulver (22-8-1), and recently crowned WEC bantamweight champ Miguel Torres (32-1) vs. Manny Tapia (10-0-1).

"WEC: Faber vs. Pulver" takes place on a rare Sunday fight date, June 1, at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

The event will air live on VERSUS beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

The Faber-Pulver fight was destined the moment Pulver announced his intentions of dropping to 145 lbs. and moving to the WEC after serving as a coach on "The Ultimate Fighter 5." Faber is undoubtedly the WEC's biggest and most marketed star, and the fight with Pulver will be the biggest in the organization's history.

Torres, who recently won the 135-lb. title by defeating former champ Chase Beebe, will put his newfound fame to use when he takes on Tapai, an undefeated, high-energy King of the Cage veteran who made his WEC debut in 2007.

Mark Munoz (3-0), a former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion, will also make his WEC debut at the show.

Tickets for the event go on sale March 29.
Torres/Tapia should also be exciting and Munoz is supposed to be pretty damn good.

Yeah, I have been on the short-end when his technique defeated my strength or, more precisely, my weight. And while Faber does not lack technique I think that Little Evil's experience will make this a great fight. I'm putting my money on Faber though. Funny how I can feel guilt for betting an arbitrary sum against someone I respect and will likely never meet. Sorry Jens.

I would have to go with Faber on this one.

IMO, Faber would give Penn fits. And we all saw how easily Penn was able to beat Pulver.

I like Pulver, I just don't think he can win.

Faber should be a big favorite...and deservedly so.

At least they have a lot of respect for one another.

I think Faber will take this one, he's on such a roll at the moment. Id like to see Jens get the win tho, its always possible he could catch and drop Faber.

lol @ Mini Nog and Valencia being on the undercard compared to Crunk, who got a title shot and got schooled but it still somehow being pushed. Valencia has a nack for winning or losing in spectacular fashion so I assume we will see it regardless. If I have to wait 6 months to see Pequano on Wrekage I am going to be PISSED off.

PS Torres beats Maeda in under 3 minutes
