i like that they are calling the fights between the old timers "Masters" fights. Still not sure i want to see Don Frye fight anymore. He's looking rough these days and does'nt have any of the skill he displayed during his UFC years.
Goodridge was canned by the NJACB yesterday. He was knocked out in an event in South Korea this past weekend. For the third time, Pat Smith has been added to the card to fight Butterbean.
Yamma still lists Mark Kerr as fighting Oleg Taktaorv as well, but Kerr is still under Mohegan Sun suspension which he has never resolved. The NJACB will likely uphold that suspension.
Yamma has been listing fights all week that have no chance of happening or that were already denied by the commission. I can't believe this event is PPV. It will be a complete bomb with less than 2500 buys I bet. Its just pitifully run.
They continue their trend of listing fights that are either not possible or unsecured. How do they get away with that when people are paying money for something but getting something else. I usually am not for regulating some things, but their should be some guidelines or protocols for this.

How can this event be a bomb??? They'll be unveiling the revolutionary new fighting surface which will put an end to a lack of action on the ground!!!! LOl!! Seriously though, if there is one thing i really hate, its when promotions pull this crap. I am sorry i even posted the Butterbean/Goodridge match.
Yamma Fighting Surface Described; Kerr, Rodriguez Added to Card

Yamma Pit Fighting disclosed details Tuesday of the "Yamma" fighting surface to be used for the promotion's debut show April 11 in Atlantic City, N.J.
"The Yamma is a circular pit, shaped almost like a bowl, with a circular flat bottom that rises up around the edge," the promotion explained in a news release. "In this ring, if a fighter is pushed backwards towards the fence, he moves up the lip, gaining both a height and leverage advantage over his opponent. From this position, the fighter on the lip can use gravity and leverage to reverse his opponent and take the fight back into the center without a break in the action."
The last several weeks had brought much speculation regarding the surface.
"Some people thought it would have a moving floor, spikes or even live alligators," said Yamma Pit Fighting's Bob Meyrowitz. "But the Yamma isn't about flashy gimmicks; it's about the evolution of a sport and how the traditional ring can be altered to accelerate that evolution. At its core, the purpose of the Yamma is to make MMA fighting more exciting for those who matter most -- the fans."
Yamma Pit Fighting also announced that Mark Kerr will fight Oleg Taktarov at the event. "The Smashing Machine" fought Friday in Oklahoma, where he defeated Chuck Huus with a keylock in the first round.
Ricco Rodriguez, who's coming off a split-decision loss to Antonio Silva in February, has been added to the heavyweight tournament.
The main event pits Eric "Butterbean" Esch versus 42-year-old veteran Gary Goodridge. Fighting this past weekend in Seoul, South Korea, Goodridge was knocked out in the second round by Mu Bae Choi.
I'm a little interested in seeing their cage, but other than that this just seems like the Senior Tour for MMA.
I don't like the idea at all. Sounds to me like a recipe for torn knee ligaments and sprained ankles. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what degree the incline is, but it sounds not good. Especially with all the senior citizens on the card.

The pics I've seen have the edge being a pretty steep incline. Personally I think its going to lead to fighters falling down as they back up more than forcing them up and to a higher position.
Mark Kerr has been cleared by the NJACB and thus will now be fighting Oleg Taktarov in the main event. Ron Waterman has also been added to the card as an alternate to the heavyweight tournament.
The latest updated card:
MASTERS SUPERFIGHTS:
(Two Five-Minute Rounds)
-Oleg Taktarov vs. Mark Kerr
-Eric “Butterbean” Esch vs. Pat Smith
EIGHT-MAN HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT:
(One Five-Minute Round & Championship is Three Five-Minute Rounds)
-Marcelo "Pato" Pereira
-Sherman Pendergarst
-Ricco Rodriguez
-Tony Sylvester
-Chris Tuscherer
-Travis Wiuff
-Alexey Oleynik
-George Bush
-Ron Waterman (alternate)
BTW, I've merged all the threads regarding this event into one so that all the info about the event is condensed and in one easy place to find.

I kept visualizing something like a bowl that you would skate in with a small lip.

To give you an idea, check out the sketch on the event poster.
While I'm not sure that is completely accurate, I've seen a few renditions that have it looking similarly, like a circle with the last 3-4 ft being on a 30 degree incline before hitting the cage.

I gotcha. I agree then, it seems like there will be a bit of stumbling, at least at first.

Yeah, Ricco was talking about it on Inside MMA...he basically has no idea what the setup's gonna be like. I think someone (maybe him) did mention something about an incline and it might work to his advantage with being able to take guys down against this incline and work 'em over.
Knee...busted ankles...I doubt Meyrowitz cares about any of that.
So true. We're 4 days from the event and no one has seen the structure other than in concept from its designer. We've heard not one quote from any of the combatants who have been allowed to test the cage.
You know, I could almost see this event failing to take off when the cage is deemed unsafe upon construction at the Trump Taj Mahal. It wouldn't be the first time an event was canceled when the cage failed inspection.
