its pretty obvious that Kimbo's opponent was totally intimidated. you don't backpedal like that if you're not a little overwhelmed. that and the "slaps" he was throwing did'nt help him any. Kimbo is a mean man and if he ever got proper training maybe he could be more than a backyard brawler. of course when undercard fighters in the UFC only make $2000 Kimbo is'nt doing too bad. what's he get when he fights? its a $5000 bet is'nt it?

Oww. That hurt my head just watching that. I could feel that shot rattle my brain. I think Kimbo is considering pro boxing isn't he? He would be more suited for that.

well, Gilbert Aldana got $2000 when he fought Buentello while during the same card Chuck and Randy both got $200,000+. i suppose you have to pay the people who fill the seats. i don't see Kimbo filling seats.

MMA fighters are underpaid.. in Japan they make more money. Compare what a boxer makes to a MMA fighter.. MMA is much more exciting and dangerous. These guys are risking their lives for peanuts. If it wasnīt for the sponsors, they would be broke. A ticket to Vegas and lodging can run you more than you make fighting.

I can't tell if you are joking or not. I think Dana learned from the Gannon show that they don't belong with elite fighters. Then again Kimbo isn't much different from a Correira, Butterbean, Sylvia, etc. But I really have no desire to see him in MMA.

Kimbo only has half the game to fight MMA, he stands up, from what I have read he doesn't fight on the ground. He could be the worst ground fighter but the best standing and lose.
As for the pay, I like how it is set up now. Now unlike boxing, there is actually a reason to win the fight, it's not like you get 4 million if you win, and 3 million if you lose.

I donīt know man.. they are getting fractions of what Boxers are getting. 2000 dollars for a fight is nothing, you canīt even pay your expenses. That is seriously wrong, considering the UFC making millions with PPVīs, Merchandise, Sponsors, Marketing..etc. There should be a minimum limit, like at least 15-20K. How is a fighter supposed to concentrate on his career, if he has to run a job on the side, specially if he has no sponsors.

lol yea, didnt gannon demolish this guy, then got creamed by brandon lee hinkle, he in turn got creamed by moonson... kimbo is one of the last guys id wanna run into on the street, but when you put in the ground aspect or get real fighters in there better then dreds, i dont think its much of a match

While I'll never defend the UFC's paltry pay scale, let's not get crazy about boxing and their pay. Guys 4-5 fights down from a main event on a boxing PPV rarely get more than $2000. Often, they are around $1000 a fight. At the smaller events, $250 for a night is good, with $50-100 being the norm. These guys work out at places like Kronk Gym in Detroit because because membership is about $35 a month!! They almost all have real jobs. Its not until they are highly ranked often that they can afford to train full time, unless they have a benefactor banking on them being superstars (ala Jim Jacobs to Mike Tyson). When Arturo Gatti fought on the undercard of a Buddy McGirt fight in the mid 90's, he took home $500. Buddy was the main event as a former world champ and got $10,000.
So the lower level fighters in boxing also make very paltry sums, part of the reasoning behind John McCain's push for a national boxing commision and health care for boxers.
Like I said, I'm not defending the UFC's payscale, simply pointing out that boxings payscale is terrible except at the highest levels, where its awesome.

Nobody really going crazy over anything, I just think UFC should pay more and after your more than valid points, Boxers should get paid more too.
Where did you get that Gatti only got paid 500 dollars on the McGirt undercard? That fight was for the USBA Super Featherweight Title.. you know this right? 500 dollars for a title fight? I need to see that black on white. I understand his value went down after the Solomon fight, but he koīd/tkoīd every fighter with the exception of Tuck before he got that title shot. But it was also his first professional fight against Taliaferro, you canīt expect the purse to be that high, but 500 dollars? I have to read this myself.
By the way, whatīs wrong with training at Kronkīs Gym? Man I would pay 100 dollars to train there. Kronkīs is run by Emanuell Stewart, and people like Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns trained their way to Championships there. $35 is preety cheap if you ask me.

Nothing wrong with $35 for Kronk at all. Its more of an example of how cheap it is to train at a top notch gym. Gleason's Gym is only $80 a month. It was merely used as an example. If I lived in Detroit, I'd likely join even if I didn't actually train there just to support the place, which is in dire financial straits right now.
You will not find the $500 quote from Gatti in any magazine or website. He told people himself that it was a farce to get paid so little for a title fight on national TV at the post fight party. Arturo was working as a bouncer in Jersey City at the time to make ends meet. He may have made more, but that's what he was telling everyone after the fight. I was working with Buddy McGirt at the time during his rehab from shoulder surgery following the first Whitaker fight, which is why I was at the party. Buddy shoulder looked like a grenade went off in it after that fight and he was in the 4 fight on the comeback trail to get to Whitaker again. That whole group of fighters were great guys who were a hell of alot of fun to be around when the won.
BTW, those fights were shown live on USA's Tuesday Night Fights with Albert and O'Grady. Those guys were real cool as they came by the rehab center to watch Buddy get treatment after training.

I saw Butterbean at KOTC Payback (from last year). It was his second MMA fight, which was against Michael Buchkovich. It was a decent fight, all standing and leaning against the cage. But, it was not for lack of trying -- Buchkovich really tried to take Butterben down a lot. Butterbean was just too freaking fat and round. He is an example of a big man that limits what an opponent can do because of his massive girth.
Butterbean is now 2-1-1 in MMA.Butterbean vs. Genki Sudo (14-4-1)
Butterbean vs. Michael Buchkovich (4-2-1)
Butterbean vs. Walley Keenboom (0-2-0)
Butterbean vs. Wesley Correira (17-9-0) I was surprised that Butterbean defeated Cabbage. He has only fought one guy with a losing record, although these are not the best fighters in MMA or anything. I think that some people would say that Sudo and Cabbage were good challenges for Butterbean.
